Ok. Why Should You Hire a Maid Of Honor Speech Writer?

It reminds me of when Li asked for help with her maid of honor speech. She was extremely busy and looking for a unique speech that really encapsulates the true beauty of her friendship with her friend by incorporating a few games they play together so it can have a funny twist to it.
What I thought was an uphill task turned out to be a really enjoyable experience for me and she turned this note in when she received her speech. After the wedding, she sent this note thanking us for making her proud.

Ways to include humor in your speech and what it takes to do so
First and foremost, let me say congratulations for being asked to be your sister’s maid of honor. Nothing comes to the feeling of standing next to your sister on her big day and making sure that her day comes off without a hitch. It’s an honor you shouldn’t take lightly.
Granted, being a maid of honor isn’t always an easy one. But being there to watch two beautiful souls get married makes it all worth it. It even gets better when you work up the nerve to deliver a super-memorable that highlights the key details of your relationship with the bride and possibly the groom. How do you that? It’s actually simple.
It all starts with studying well-written maid of honor speech examples or templates so you can modify it to suit your needs. In the next few lines, I am going to share with you two examples.
We would first analyze the first template, and then break it down and sprinkled it with actionable tips and insights you can weave into your script. These same insights have helped countless wedding speakers and I know without a shadow of doubt that these ideas will also help you write a heartfelt maid of honor wedding speech for your sister.
First, let’s look at the two examples in its entirety.
Here it is:
Maid Of Honor Speech for Your Sister Example/Template # 1
I would like to thank hitched.co.uk for sharing this example on their website.
Hi everyone, my name is Zoe, and for those of you who don’t know me, I’m the bride’s sister.
It’s not very common for women to give speeches at weddings, so there’s actually nothing I’m traditionally obliged to say here, which has made writing this somewhat of a challenge, so bear with me- but I do want to say thank you to BRIDE and GROOM. I don’t know whether they know this, but they’ve made three of my life wishes come true today - you’re like little genies!
Firstly, I get to give a speech! I’ve always wanted to give a speech, and honestly, I wasn’t fussy when it came to what it was about - I just feel like I’ve got a lot to say, you know. But the fact that it’s at my little sister’s wedding makes it even better.
Secondly, I got to wear a lovely dress and walk down the aisle holding a bunch of flowers… without any of the financial implications or planning stress, so that was nice.
And thirdly - this is a wish I’ve harboured for three long decades. And it has come true today. I’ve got a brother! I mean, the wish hasn’t fully come true as I’ve still got a sister too, but especially in our teenage years, there were times when I really, really wished I’d had a brother instead.
And now, I’ve got a sister and a brother-in-law! It’s so exciting. GROOM has been a brother to me for years and years, and honestly I’ve never laughed as much as I do when the three of us are together, and I’m delighted it’s now official. So, let me be the first to say welcome to the family, GROOM. Although, you’ve never not been part of it.
I can’t really tell you much you don’t know about BRIDE, as you’ve been together so bloody long, but I can tell you that with BRIDE, the things I admire most about her are also the things I find most frustrating.
She is bloody stubborn and knows her own mind, she can sleep in 'til midday and her burps can shake a room. But you know all that. Going back to being stubborn - what I will say is that she can also back down and admit when she’s done wrong, and that’s not a natural family trait, I think it’s fair to say.
In fact, it’s so rare that one particular time she did it has gone down in family history, so I should tell you about that.
When BRIDE and I were little, we used to share a bath, and on one occasion, my mum noticed in horror that there was a small turd floating around in it - she asked us which one of us did it. I was immediately screaming and clamouring to get out of the bath. That is NOT something I would do. Ever. In any circumstance. Tearfully, BRIDE admitted she thought she had done it.
My mum’s freaking out trying to get it out the bath, we’re there shivering, I’m screaming, BRIDE is sobbing in shame until…the bath is drained and my mum realises that it wasn’t in fact a little poo - instead, it was (reveal Fred Flintstone prop) the brown plastic hairpiece from our Fred Flintstone bath toy, which had become detached from his head.
Now this isn’t an exact replica - 90s Flintstone memorabilia is actually really expensive, if you have any knocking around, take that tip. But this Fred Flintstone bubble bath bottle I think tells you a lot about BRIDE as a person. And I think the ability to admit when you’re wrong - even if you’re not actually 100% sure but it seems pretty likely - is probably a good trait to have in a marriage. You guys can keep this.
So if you could all join me in standing…ready for my standing ovation. No, in a toast to BRIDE and GROOM - may you always admit when you’re wrong, and may you never share a bath. To BRIDE and GROOM!
Now I’m going to hand over to my dad, the father of the bride, and I’d like to say upfront - I did a lot of editing on his speech, so if it’s great, well, naturally. And if it doesn’t go down well, he’s probably gone off script…
Here’s the second example:
Maid Of Honor Speech Example/ Template For Your Sister #2
A big thanks goes to hitched.co.uk for posting this too.
Hello everyone. For those of you who don’t know me, which is very unlikely because I know more than half of the people here, my name is Evie and I’m Audrey’s little sister.
A few years ago we said that when each of us gets married, the other would be the maid of honour. So here I am, a couple of years later after a cute, weird, creative proposal from that odd bird over there, Martin. Sorry for the inside joke, it has come so far.
A few years ago we said that when each of us gets married, the other would be the maid of honour. Audrey and I have been through a lot together and I love that I was a part of her journey here.
All those train rides to and from work, lunches, trips to McDonald’s for chicken nuggets when one of us wasn’t too happy, every night out, every time we wrestled – and I won, of course.
When I was younger, I could always crawl in her bed when I was scared of the movie that I said I could handle. Okay, maybe I still do that now and then. But, she never complains, even though I might take up more than half the bed.
Audrey, you are amazing. You have made me who I am today, and it would have been a boring journey without you. I love you with all that I am. And I’m really, really happy for you that you found someone who is just as weird and crazy as you are.
You have made me who I am today, and it would have been a boring journey without you. I love you with all that I am.
I think you will agree with me that both are amazing examples. But I particularly admire how the first example encapsulates her relationship with his sister.
Well, if you re-read both examples and analyze them further, you will realize that they are built on this structure or outline:
Greetings and short-self introduction
Thanking the bride for asking you to stand by her side
Compliment the bride and groom
Share your sentiments about the wedding day
Talk about the groom
Talk about the bride
The end of your toast
Once you’ve figured out what the structure of both examples are, then crafting your maid of honor speech will be very easy and painless. Oh, I forgot to tell you that there are video examples you can watch and learn from.
At this point, we are going to dive deep by taking each bullet point one step at a time.Let’s start with the first idea:
Greetings and Short-self introduction
Writing a few words about your relationship with the bride and groom and thanking the wedding audience for coming from far and near shouldn’t be too hard, right?
Here’s an example:
Hello everyone. For those of you who don’t me, I am Mary and I am very happy to be here tonight to celebrate the love of my precious sister Martha to her husband Dan.
You can get the ball rolling on this speech by blocking out time to write a short-self introduction. Can you do that right now?
Let’s look at the second idea:
Thanking the bride for asking you to stand by her side
Being asked to serve as the bride’s maid of honor is an honor and privilege you shouldn’t take lightly. So, let your sister know how grateful you are for choosing to stand by her side on the most important day of her life.
These words can help you show appreciation to the bride:
It’s always been my dream to stand by you through thick and thin. I don’t know what the two of us haven’t been through.
And I feel incredibly elated to stand by you on your big day. You two are a very special couple Thank you so much for asking me to be your maid of honor.
Question: What are your words of gratitude for your sister? Just write it down as it will help you get a bit of content for your toast.
Let’s look at idea number three:
Compliment the bride and groom
There are a lot of things you can say about your sister and her husband. You could talk about how good they look together, their clothing style, or even pass a comment about how you felt when your sister walked down the aisle with your parents. If the couple is shy, you might just want to let them know how proud you are of them.
Still on compliments, you can say a big thank you to your bridesmaids (if there are any on the crew) and say a few nice things about their wedding dresses and how good they look in them.
Here’s a mini-assignment to help you get some content for your maid of honor wedding speech for your sister: Here are a few questions.
How would you like to compliment your sister and the groom?
What would you like to tell the bridesmaid and best man?
Please note: Since you are her sibling, you could use your opening remarks to thank your mom and dad, your siblings, and other persons for shaping your sister’s into the kind of person she’s now.
Having seen that, let’s see the next idea:
Share your sentiments about the wedding day
Here’s how it’s captured in the first example:
‘’ Firstly, I get to give a speech!
Although is your sister’s wedding day and all eyes will be on her, you can still express your excitement about her big day, how you feel about her and the love of her life.
For example, here are some ideas that can help you dig deep about how you feel about her wedding day.
First, you can mention how you felt when you saw her walk down the aisle with your mom and dad.
Second, you can also share what went through your mind when she asked you to make a wedding speech. If you are very creative, you can make it absolutely hilarious if you are very nervous about this whole speech writing thing.
Third, on a more humorous note, you can say a big thank you for giving you a nice wedding dress as your wedding gift.
Fourth, you can sing your toast like this funny girl did.
Let’s ponder about this so you can jot down a few ideas about your sentiments: Which of those ideas can help you express your deepest feelings about your sister’s wedding day?
We are not done yet. Another idea is in the offing:
Talk about the groom
If you have known your sister’s husband for a long time, you can write in great detail about who he is to you, your sister, your family, and how you have seen their relationship blossom over the years.
If you don’t know him very well, you can simply say that you are excited that he loves and adores your sister.
Here’s a mini-assignment for you: What would you like to say do you wish to say about the groom? Just do a little brainstorming and make a few notes about him.
Now, let’s see what you’ve been waiting for:
Talk about the bride
Wow…it’s such a relief that we’ve gotten here. There are so many things that can be written and said about your sister. But let’s face it. Distilling years of memories into a five minute speech can be an extremely laborious task.
It is so because with a zillion thoughts and feelings floating through your mind, it can be hard to know where to start, what to say, what not to say, or even how to tie your speech together into a very meaningful wedding tribute to her.
Just like every other pursuit in life, we all need to start from somewhere to get your ideas off the ground. I know it can be hard to break through the glass ceiling.
So, I have compiled a list of questions that can help you write the structure or body of your sister’s maid of honor speech or toast. Let’s do a little brainstorming and come up with answers to these questions:
How did you feel when your sister was born?(If you are the older sister, you may jot down what you’ve learned from her since your little sister came into your life)
What are some fond memories of the time you’ve spent together?
What’s been her impact on your life?
How did she feel when she first met the groom?
How has she become a much better person ever since she met the groom?
Are you their match maker? If yes, how did you it? If you are, then that would make your maid of honor toast even more wonderful.
Now, this is what I would like you to do right now:
Take the bits and pieces of what you have scribbled down in your notepad and write a rough draft and later polish it up.
Let’s conclude with this:
The end of your toast
If you want to sound like everyone else, you can simply end with a toast before you hand over the microphone to the emcee. The ending lines of your maid of honor toast is as important as the opening remarks, so you have to make sure your concluding notes stand out from the pack. Here are some ideas that can help you end on a strong note.
When you asked me to be your bridesmaid Nothing could have made me happier.
We've been through thick and thin; You are the best friend a girl could ever have.
Sharing Caring Laughing Crying Running through all sorts of times in our lives.
Now, as you take this big step Know that I'll always be there for you.
I'm honored to be in your wedding party, But even more honored to call you my friend.
With Love
As you and (Groom's Name) start your lives together, With Laughter With good times (and sometimes bad) Know that your love Will always see you through…
Second, you can end with a bible verse or scripture if it’s a Christian gathering. Here are some verses from the scripture you can wrap up with.
Ephesians 5: 25: Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her
Proverbs 18:22- He who finds a wife finds a good thing and obtains favor from the Lord.
Finally, you can end by gifting the bride and groom a few gifts of love. Here’s how one maid of honor ended her speech on a very, very memorable note.
Suzie and Simon, I know you will have a great life together and be very happy. You are amongst people today who care and love you very much and we wish you all the happiness in the world. We will always be there for you if you ever need anything.
You are amongst people today who care and love you very much and we wish you all the happiness in the world. We will always be there for you if you ever need anything.
To help you start married life, I have some small gifts and advice for you both:
A rubber band – to remind you to always be flexible.
A candle – to help the glow of romance always be part of your love for each other.
A paperclip – to help keep you close.
A safety pin – to help you pinpoint any problems and solve them.
A tea bag – to take time to relax and enjoy yourselves.
A marble – to help you replace the ones you help each other to lose.
A rubber – to erase any rough times.
A match – so there’s always a spark.
A tissue – to wipe away any tears.
A heart – for the love you share.

How to easily write a heartfelt maid of honor toast for your sister or friend

What to include and what not to include so you don’t embarrass your sister or best friend
What you should say if you are a Christian or a very religious person
…plus a whole lot more like…how long should your maid of honor wedding speech be?
Let’s Start With This One
Being a maid of honor can be a truly memorable and exciting experience for any woman. Inspite of it being a big blessing, it can be a very tasking endeavor if put your whole heart and soul into helping the bride plan a memorable wedding.
Just think about it. From making sure the bridesmaids dresses are ordered in a timely fashion, to planning the wedding reception, to picking a dress that suits the occasion, to giving a speech at the reception, you really have a lot to make sure the day goes without a hitch.
But none of that leaves a favorable impression than standing up in front of the couple’s family and friends to talk about your bonds of friendship and wish her and the groom a lifetime of happiness.
How To Gather Ideas For Your Maid Of Honor Wedding Speech
To make the writing process fairly easy, you first have to pick ideas from well-written maid of honor speech samples.
Having said, let’s look at two examples right away. Afterward, we will analyze the second example bit by bit and distill everything down into actionable tips that can help you to write a beautiful maid of honor wedding toast.
Ok, here are those examples.
Maid Of Honor Speech Template/ Example For A Sister
I would like to thank Wedding Forward for sharing this example.
Hello there, everyone. I’m Wendi, the maid of honor and sister of the bride. Being a sister grants me special privileges, like allowance to call Elizabeth ‘Liz’, which I’ve been doing forever and can’t bring myself to stop now. As I’ve known Liz her entire life, I wanted to say a few words on her and Dillan’s special day.
It’s amazing that Liz and I survived childhood. Yes, we often fought like cats and dogs, putting our parents through a bit of grief. But even when we got along, we were apt to find ourselves in trouble. Like the time I tried to teach Liz to ride a bike… sorry about that sprained arm, sister. Or when we’d squeeze ourselves into the dryer, or jump from the balcony onto a pile of pillows, or make those delicious mud pies… topped with poison berries we found in the shrubs.
I even used to take advantage of Liz’s giving nature, and ask her to walk to pick me up a Blizzard from the Dairy Queen two miles away. Which she totally did. Thanks, sis.
We made it through childhood alive. Since Liz is my little sister though, it was hard to see her as an adult for a long time. In fact, I remember the day she stopped being a kid in my eyes, and it was a lot more recently than you might think. Back when both of us lived in Seattle, I was working at a Starbucks inside a grocery store, and Liz was training to be an EMT.
She used to come in and joke with me and order drinks – wait no, she only ordered one drink, a triple-grande-nonfat-vanilla-latte — before her shift started. Those days sort of blend together (not unlike her latte) in a montage of goofiness, with one exception: the day we heard a commotion at one of the checkout stands.
Liz ran over to the line to see what was going on. She ran back and asked me for a cup of water, which I gave her, and then she scurried away. She ran back and asked me for a piece of candy, which I gave her, and then she scurried away again. Liz came back again and asked if I could call her work to tell them she’d be late, and she scurried away again. I called her boss and said, “Liz is going to be late, she’s saving someone right now.”
Which was totally true. Liz was in the middle of making sure a pregnant woman who had fainted was okay. She eventually came and picked up her triple-grande-nonfat-vanilla-latte and went off to work. After Liz left, the manager of the store came over to me, and told me, “Please thank your sister for me. That was the most amazing thing I’ve ever seen.”
At that moment I realized Liz was not just my sister, and no longer a kid. Liz was – and is – someone who can help people in the most scary of times. She can stop everything, stay calm, and save the day. Liz is a superhero.
And I know Liz is bringing her superhero powers to her marriage, too. She’s bringing her eagerness to make others happy. Her aptitude for sharing. Her sense of humor. Her naturally kind disposition. And most of all, her ability to love with her whole heart, selflessly and for the benefit of everyone around her.
Liz, I know Dillan is going to make you so happy, and I know in return you’ll do the same for him. I love you both and wish you all the best in your long lives together.
To the happy couple!
Now, let’s look at the next example:
Maid of Honor Speech Example/ Template for a Best Friend
I would like to thank Vow Muse for sharing this example.
If you haven’t had the chance to meet me yet, my name is Maggie. Martha and I have been best friends for about 10 years. We met in high school gym class, and we couldn’t stand each other at first. As you can see, things eventually changed for the better.
When she first asked me to be her Maid of Honor I felt flattered. But as the big day approached, she also told me to give a speech and a toast. I’m kind of the shy type and tried my best to get out of it. But, as Dan can tell you, it’s almost impossible to tell my friend No and get away with it.
I never had a friend like Martha. But she has been like a sister to me for all these years. We have similar tastes, we like similar clothes… I knew Martha had found the one when Dan walked into her life. Well, I’m fine with that – she saw him first!
Actually, you could see that it was love at first, second, and third sight. He is her Prince Charming and it seems to me he gives her all she needs – a strong arm, a sympathetic ear, and his credit card.
I can’t imagine anyone else but him to be her one and only. They say that anyone can be passionate, but it takes a real pair of lovers to be silly. Well, together, Martha and Dan are two of the goofiest people I know.
For many years, they have been through thick and thin, and have shared many memories. I wanted to tell you both how absolutely spectacular you look today. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a better-looking couple. I wish you two all the love and happiness in the world. How blessed you are to celebrate your love on this beautiful day.
I know you will have challenges as all relationships do. But you know what’s great about love and relationships and marriages? it is learning to grow together. Caring and sharing, and lots of tenderness. And maybe a bit of patience.
I know there are many happy years ahead for you. Let’s all raise our glasses to the bride and groom, and wish them a lifetime of love and happiness!
The Three Main Parts of Your Speech
Having read both pieces, let’s quickly move on by breaking down the first example bit by bit so you can figure out what goes into writing a great maid of honor speech or toast.
I don’t know if you have a great memory. But, do you remember what your High School English teacher said about the composition of essays?
Do you remember him saying way back in the good old days that essays have three main parts? You seem to be smiling which seems to suggest that you know the answer.
If you are having these answers: introduction, body, and conclusion’’ in your mind, then your memory is like a camera lens! Congratulations! All speeches (including those you read above) have an introduction, body or outline and a conclusion or ending.
Let’s Start With The Introduction Or Opening Remarks
Your introductory remark is also known as the hook. It serves two primary purposes:
To engage the wedding guests
To set the pace for the rest of your presentation
It can help ease nervous tension if you start on the right note.
Now, let’s go back to the first example and cull the excerpts of the introductory remarks so we can learn a thing or two from it.
Here you go:
‘’ If you haven’t had the chance to meet me yet, my name is Maggie. Martha and I have been best friends for about 10 years. We met in high school gym class, and we couldn’t stand each other at first. As you can see, things eventually changed for the better. When she first asked me to be her Maid of Honor I felt flattered. ‘’
I know you can just close your eye and simply come up with that example. But if you probe deeper, you will realize that all introductions have certain key points that the writer probably overlooked.
Do you have any idea what they are? If you scroll back up and read it once more, you will notice these elements running through it:
Short self-introduction and the maid of honor’s relationship with the bride.
Well, not everything was captured in that extract though. It actually goes beyond that. Maggie could have also added these core components too:
Thanking everyone for coming.
Mentioning some personalities who have had a tremendous impact on the life of the bride. If you are the bride’s sister, you can use this opportunity to thank people like your own mom and dad and other relatives you know.
Here, you also thank the bride for asking you to be her maid of honor.
Here’s A Second Part of the Maid of Honor Wedding Speech
You might think that’s all there is about introductory remarks. There’s also another part that captivates and engages the audience. Thus, giving an air of expectation that your maid of honor wedding speech won’t be like the ones they usually hear at most wedding venues.
Here’s how Maggie wrote hers.
‘’… I have been best friends for about 10 years. We met in high school gym class, and we couldn’t stand each other at first. ‘’
I don’t know why this happens. But most maids of honors begin their speeches by stating where they met the bride and how many years they have been friends. That’s pretty standard anyway.
But if you want your maid of honor wedding speech to be unique, you should start on a rather different tone. I am happy to share with you a few tips and ideas for starting your maid of honor speech with a bang.
First, if you really have an amazing singing voice, you can start with a parody of a well-known song every can sing along to as these wonderful ladies have done.
You may also mention her nickname and explain how she got it if there’s a story about it. Or simply use an joke that you think will make the wedding guests laugh out loud.
Third, you can make your speech funny by learning a few phrases if you have guests coming from another country and then incorporate them into your maid of honor wedding speech.
For example, if the groom is Spanish and his family is coming from say Spain. Then, you can possibly ask him or the bride to educate you on how to greet and introduce yourself and practice it a bit before addressing the overseas guests in Spanish.
If you use this approach, you will endear yourself to the audience and end up making lots of new friends. You never know what will happen if you are still single and looking for love. You might be lucky if you just give it a try!
Fourth, you can strike a sentimental tone by using a few witty lines about friendship or marriage. Now, I am going to share with you some touching quotes and show you how you can modify them to give your maid of honor speech a sentimental touch.
Quotes For A Friend
’’Anything is possible when you have the right friend to support you ‘’- Dan Jean
A friend is someone who overlooks your broken and admires the flowers in your garden
“Don’t make friends who are comfortable to be with. Make friends who will force you to lever yourself up.” — Thomas J. Watson
Quotes for a Sister
A sister can be seen as someone who is both ourselves and very much not ourselves—a special kind of double.” —Toni Morrison
“I’m the big sister. I want to make sure she has everything, even if I don’t have anything. It’s hard. I love her too much. That’s what counts.” —Venus Williams
“Sisters make the best friends in the world.” —Marilyn Monroe
Let’s see how to use quote the first quote to write a very brief example.
''Anything is possible when you have the right friend to support you ''- Dan Jean
Here you go:
I once read a quote that says that anything is possible when you have the right friend to support you. I got to understand that better when I met Emily a decade ago when we were both High School students.
Fifth, if you are from a strict religious home or are a Christian, you can start with a prayer even before you deliver your speech.
Now, let’s move to the next part of your delivery:
How to Write the Body or Outline of Your Maid of Honor Speech for Your Sister or Friend
As you know, writing the body is like taking a leisure stroll through your community. It’s very easy to do that. But I am always appalled when I review speeches and see great ideas scattered all over the place.
Do you know why this always happens? It’s because most speech-givers generally have an idea of what to say. But have great difficulty organizing their thoughts and feelings into very meaningful words.
To make sure your ideas flow very well, you should have a plan and stick to that plan from the start to the end.
How then do you craft such a workable plan? You can do that with one or more of the following ideas or techniques. So get a notepad and pen and write down answers to these questions.
Do you remember a little story about your friendship with the bride? If so, then please write down the highlights of your friendship.
Do you recall where you first met her? If you are older sister or even a sister, you can mention how you felt when your little sister came into your life.
How did you meet her? State what drew the maid of honor to your side for the very first time. If you are a sister, you can bring out the influence she’s had on your life.
Again, mention how your friendship began to develop. If you are a sister, you can share things you have in common and how that deepened your love for each other.
You may mention any misunderstandings or differences you have had and how it was resolved. If she’s the peace maker, you can mention and state why that’s a plus for her going into marriage.
If you choose to share anecdotes about your sister or friend, then you should write about the groom. If you don’t know the groom very well, just express your delight that he’s taking her to be a wife.
Mention his beautiful traits and indicate why you think he would be a great husband and dad. If you are a sister, you can thank him for marrying your beloved sisterand welcome him into your family.
You may also touch on how they complement each other.
This is what I want you to right now. Please jot down ideas about the groom or your brother-in-law and the bride using the tips I just shared with you.
You may write as many stories you can possibly remember about the couple. Then, pick the most interesting ones and use them to write a rough first draft which you can edit for clarify.
Let’s now look at…
How to Write The Ending of a Maid of Honor Toast

Ways to include humor in your speech and what it takes to do so
How to easily and quickly write a hilarious maid of honor wedding speech or toast for your best friend or sister.
Are you looking for funny things to say in your funny maid of honor speech? Just bear with me for a while and I will share with you actionable tips and ideas about…
How to easily write a humorous maid of honor speech even if you are not great with words
…plus tons of other great ideas you can work into your own script…
Have you ever been to any wedding you always look back on with really fond memories? If you have, then there is a possibility that one of the things that made that wedding night very memorable was how the toasts were delivered.
You might have concluded after that wedding party that someday when your friend or loved one is getting married, you too will rise to the occasion and make a funny wedding speech that will be on everyone’s lips all night long.
Now, that day is here and you have to make your dreams come true. But what do you say in a way that will set you apart from the rest of the wedding speakers and make you the talk of town.
It’s actually simple than you’ve ever thought possible. But first, let’s look at a few crippling and negative thoughts that deprive many wedding speakers from delivering funny maid of wedding speeches and how to make sure you make one with remarkable ease even if you are not a naturally funny girl.
Myth number 1: Your toast has to be hilarious from the start to the end of your wedding speech. Not entirely the case. If can make everyone laughing from when you grab the microphone to when you say your last words, then you should consider joining the American Comedy Institute. You just need at least one funny anecdote to achieve your goal.
Myth number 2: They say that you can’t deliver a very funny maid of honor speech if you are not like the famous comedian, Mr. Bean. Whoever said that might be joking. You can employ easy-to-follow tricks to make everyone happy. For example, you can throw the house into rapturous delight by wearing a bizarre wig or simply acting like a drunk before you speak.
Having seen that, let’s take inspiration from these funny maid of honor speeches by reading through them very carefully. After that, we will split the second example up into bits and pieces so we can figure out what goes into writing a very funny maid speech or toast.
Please note: The first example is from the sister of the bride to her sibling, the second is by a friend of the bride. You may go over both if you have enough time or just scroll down to the second template if you are her friend. Enough said.
Now, let’s think through what I think it’s one of the funniest maid of honor speeches out there.
First and foremost, I would like to thank this website for sharing this toast.
“Hello everyone. My name is Natasha, and I am very happy to be here tonight to celebrate the wedding of my dear friend Mary to her new husband Felix. Mary, you look absolutely stunning tonight. Felix is one lucky man!
If you don’t know the story, Mary and Felix met each other at her sister’s wedding almost 3 years ago, and it was love at first sight. No distance could keep them apart, and even from the Dominican Republic, Felix serenaded Mary over Skype and text messages.
His charm and sweet words soon won her over, and she took a leap of faith in love and moved to the DR to teach for a year and of course be close to Felix.
And now Mary and Felix, because of the trust you had in each other and in the love that you shared, you are finally able to live and love together as husband and wife, and even in the same country!
To the beautiful bride Mary: we met back in first grade, and I am honored to still be one of your closest friends and celebrate with you on this special day.
Typically the maid of honor gives some marriage advice. I am not yet an expert on marriage, but I am an expert on Mary. I know that Felix will not only be your husband but your new best friend. So Felix I would like to share some insights from Mary’s very old best friend to her new very best friend.
Felix, if you ever upset Mary, just remember that she loves ice cream. And if you really upset her, try French fries dipped in a chocolate shake.
Mary will not be afraid to knock sense into you when she feels necessary. I once said the wrong thing and she threw a pillow at me, which happened to contain a hardbound textbook. Who keeps books in their pillows?
Felix, a word of warning, Mary was a hurdler in high school. So don’t stand in her way, because she can and will jump over you.
If you ever get tired of her talking, just send her out for coffee with some friends. But only if you can handle caffeine hyped Mary.
Mary is the queen of procrastination, and she seems to do her best work in the middle of the night. Felix, uh, you can take advantage of this…
Felix, you are now prepared for all that lies ahead. You have chosen a wonderful woman to be your wife and all I ask is that you take good care of her and always keep her laughing.
And to Mary, thank you for being such a wonderful friend. I love your infectious laugh, open heart, and brutal honesty. Always remember that I, along with the rest of your friends and family will always be here to support you.
Before I finish, I wanted to share part of a letter that you had written to me on our high school graduation day: “Natasha, we have been through life’s ups and downs together and we are still standing strong.
As the day that I move approaches, I pray that our friendship will endure forever so that one day we really will sit next to each other in rocking chairs watching our grandchildren play and reminiscing on these wonderful days of our youth.”
Well, Mary we still have a long way until grandchildren, but tonight you are one step closer!
Please raise your glasses to Mary and Felix. May the happiness you have tonight only be the start of a wonderful life ahead.”
I actually smiled reading through this presentation and even gave the writer a thunderous round of applause. I am not sure if anything I have ever read or heard can outmatch this amazingly funny maid of honor wedding speech!
Well, that’s my opinion. But, did you really enjoy reading both funny maid of honor wedding speeches? And which was your favorite? I bet it’s the second example.
And by the way, did you learn a thing or two from reading that unique and creative maid of honor wedding toast?
I think it’s an honorable thing to keep your promises. So, without further ado, let’s set the wheels in motion by considering how you can write one of the best maid of honor wedding speeches anyone ever heard at a wedding reception using the ideas we got from both samples.
First and foremost, let us consider what goes into the introductory remarks and how you can write a captivating opener without trying so hard.
Here’s the excerpted example to guide us every step of the way.
“Hello everyone. My name is Natasha, and I am very happy to be here tonight to celebrate the wedding of my dear friend Mary to her new husband Felix. Mary, you look absolutely stunning tonight. Felix is one lucky man!’’
This is a fairly simple maid of honor speech introduction. But you can hold the wedding guests in awe by making your remarks a little different from what is said at most weddings.
How so?
Well, after saying who you are and your relationship with the bride and groom, you may start with one or more of the following ideas.
First, you can break out into a hilarious song like the one below if you have an amazing voice. You can make it very lively by personalizing the music a bit and set it to a song everyone can sing along to. For example, you can modify the lyrics of this song by adding a few details about the bride and groom.
After mentioning your relationship with the bride and groom( Hello and welcome everyone. I am Michelle, proud sister of Mary and her maid of honor), you can start with a bang and here are a few ways of doing that.
Second, you can come on stage with some weird hairdo and act like you are a comedienne.
Third, you can start by sharing a hilarious anecdote about when you first met the bride. If you are her older sister, you can share something funny that happened prior to her birth. It could be a funny story mom and dad told you about having babies or what mom said or did before she was born.
If you are her friend, you can dive right in by letting everyone know how and where you met her and what drew you to her side. You may as well as share a little story about the bride and groom. This approach is popular with most wedding speakers.
Here’s an example:
Fourth, you can make your opening remarks very unique by waxing poetic even if you don’t want your entire speech to sound like a poem. The wedding guests would bask in delight when you make it rhyme.
Below is a funny maid of honor poem that rhymes at the end.
10 years ago, I met this girl at a trade fair
She was a happy girl so I called her Miss Fair
Turns out she was Amanda
Miss Fair loved to smile and give
Even when there was nothing to smile about
So we gave her another nickname Miss Smiley
And with that she became Miss Fair Smiley
Can you give that a try? You may use this poem as a starting point to come up with yours. What better way to start your funny maid of honor speech on a bright note!
Now, let me ask you this. Which of those ideas would you like to use for your opening remarks? Just pick one and run with it and you will bring the entire house down with joy and laughter.
Now, let us look at...
How To Easily Write the Structure or Outline of Your Funny Maid of Honor Wedding Toast
Do you know why most maid of honors struggle with putting their thoughts together even though they have so many ideas about what to say? It’s because the vast majority of wedding speakers don’t know where to start.
It’s common for wedding speech givers to quickly put down their thoughts and just edit resulting in stories that doesn’t capture the true essence of their relationship with the bride.
Just like any other creative endeavor, you need something that has worked so you can model your speech after that.
From writing maid of other speeches and other wedding speeches for people around the globe, I have developed and mastered a simple plan that can help you put across your storyline convincingly even if you are as confused as a fish on the seashore.
Here they are:
First, you have to decide on the style you wish to use for the body of your funny maid of honor speech. Styles to choose from include witty, sentimental, rhyming, musical, poetic, hilarious maid of honor wedding speeches or a combination of all styles if you want your speech to be a massive it.
Second, for your mind to brim with excellent ideas, you have to make time and watch a couple of videos so you can figure out how funny maid of honor wedding speeches are made.
Below are some great clips for you. Press on the play buttons, enjoy and you will get a fair idea from watching clips.

Fourth, read these questions thoughtful and write your answers next to each question. These thought provoking questions can help you do just that.
When did you first meet the bride?
Where did you first meet the bride?
If you are the older sister of the bride, you can share how you felt when your little sister was born
How has your relationship blossomed over the years?
Are there any funny and fond memories you recall that you wish to add to your wedding toast? List as many stories you want to include and cull your favorite(s) from the pool of stories
Are there any funny quotes or jokes you wish to add to your maid of honor wedding speech? Here are a few you can plug into your script.
If you are married, then what do you want to tell the couple?
Now, I have a mini-assignment for you. Have you provided answers to those questions above? If you have, then go back and read the examples (the two) we looked at the onset of this write-up for some inspiration and write a draft which you can fine-tune until it looks great in content and structure.
Now, let us quickly wrap by looking at…
How to End Your Maid Of Honor Wedding Speech
The closing remarks of your funny maid of honor wedding speech toast are as important as your opening address so you really have to put in a lot of thought into how you conclude your presentation.
Here are some creative and fun ways of ending your speech with a bang.
First, if you are married, then you can share your marital experience with the couple. This works all the time.
Second, I have never seen this done. But, it will definitely work if you end with a simple quiz. For example, after you have talked about the bride and groom, you can ask those around to answer a few questions about what you said and give gifts to those whose answers are correct! You and the guests would have so much fun doing this.
Third, you can end with a poem like this or even customize it a bit.
"THIS MARRIAGE" BY RUMI
May these vows and this marriage be blessed. May it be sweet milk, this marriage, like wine and halvah. May this marriage offer fruit and shade like the date palm.
May this marriage be full of laughter, our every day a day in paradise.
May this marriage be a sign of compassion, a seal of happiness here and hereafter. May this marriage have a fair face and a good name...
Third, if you have a good singing voice, you can probably modify the poem above and sing along to the beat of a well-known song and everyone will be happy with your delivery.
Fourth, if it’s a godly or Christian-centered wedding, you can end with some bible verses about marriage and love. Here are some passages from the bible that can enrich your message.
Ephesians 5:25: "For husbands, this means love your wives, just as Christ loved the church. He gave up his life for her."
Genesis 2:24: "Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.’’
Epheisans 4:2-3
"Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace."
Fifth, you can close your remarks with any of these funny and poignant quotes.
"Love is a lot like a backache. It doesn't show up on X-Rays but you know it's there." -George Burns, comedian, actor, and writer
"…true love is never blind, but rather brings an added light." -Phoebe Cary, American poet
"You know you're in love when you can't fall asleep because reality is finally better than your dreams." -Dr. Seuss, author
"The best love is the kind that awakens the soul and makes us reach for more, that plants a fire in our hearts and brings peace to our minds." -Nicholas Sparks, The Notebook
“A great marriage is not when the ‘perfect couple’ comes together. It is when an imperfect couple learns to enjoy their differences.”Dave Meurer
Using the last quote, we can end up writing something like this:
Mike and Amanda, you are both a lovely couple and I would like to read you a quote I once read by Dave Meurer.
It goes like this, ‘’ “A great marriage is not when the ‘perfect couple’ comes together. It is when an imperfect couple learns to enjoy their differences.”
You are a beautiful couple with perfect imperfections. So,as you build your lives together, learn to make concessions for each other and you will always enjoy each other’s company. We love you both and wish you all the happiness and love in your marriage.
Sixth, you can end with a joke.
Most maids of honor do this....have you considered it yet? It would help you deliver your wedding speech for your friend or sister. This is the chance to prove to the bride that you really love her.
We can help you make your friend or sister proud and the wedding guests say great things about your speech.

Ways to include humor in your speech and what it takes to do so
Like you, I badly wanted to give a great maid of honor speech that would make my friend feel not only proud but also express how much I love and adore her.
But, juggling work and my wedding plans were a real struggle so I could hardly think straight. Besides, I had so many ideas swimming in my head that I didn’t know where to start, let alone find the right words that would express my deepest love and admiration for the bride and his groom.
I Was Totally Helpless
I spent countless hours, sometimes deep into the night, but things didn’t work out as I had hoped for. I finally came up with a rather boring speech. So, I decided to seek some help online and landed on this page you are currently on.
This Helped Me Out!
However, I was skeptical when Dan and his team said they could help get me a great wedding speech even if I hated speaking in public. They say nothing ventured, nothing gained. So, I took a leap of faith when I found out that I didn’t have to pay first to get my speech written. That allayed my fear because I had nothing to lose.
I quickly got started by first filling out this form as I really wanted to make a difference with my speech.
Dan and his team delivered what they promised and I loved it after asking for some edits. When I was called to deliver my speech, the room was dead silent and most of those who knew me were not really expecting much from me because they knew of my past speaking failures.
But I proved them wrong this time around. I spoke with poise, flair, and confidence and everyone was stunned. My friend was so proud of me and she even gave me a warm, loving hug.
Those who thought I'd disappoint got it wrong! Dan and his guys asked me how my speech went afterward and this was the note I sent them after the wedding (Please note: Kindly click on the image below to make it legible)
Li's not the only one we have helped. We helped another nervous person whose testimonial is in his own pen below.
We have helped several others give memorable speeches too, So, your case is not hopeless. There’s hope for you.

''The wedding was GREAT. There were about 120 guests. About 15 people came up to me afterward and told me I gave a great speech. I had to tweak it a little because of my tardiness getting it to you but, it all turned out great. Thanks for all your help. I really appreciate it''- Phil Australia

Ways to include humor in your speech and what it takes to do so
How to write a heartfelt maid of honor speech for your friend on her wedding day even if you are not good with words
How to model your script after the best maid of honor speech templates or examples out there
How to make your toast humorous without having a naturally funny personality….
Plus many more tips and ideas you can modify and plug into your maid of honor wedding toast for your friend.
Can We Start Now?
How many times have you and your friend enacted each other’s future weddings?
I’m talking the full nine yards - white pillowcases in the place of veils, gummi rings, soft toys as the wedding guests...and if simply reading this is making you reminisce with a fond smile, there’s your answer right there.
Growing up, every young girl pretty much had a couple of future goals.
These included: being a beautiful bride at her own dream wedding, and to witness her best friend or sister having the very same experience.
Now, fast forward twenty-odd years or so down the line, you’ve got one of them to come true (or two, if you’re already married) - you’re going to be witnessing your best friend walk down the aisle, and vow to love that special man for the rest of her life.
However, in all the excitement, giddy laughter, whirlwind planning, and the continuous flurry that comes with having the coveted ‘Maid Of Honor’ title, there’s one activity that often goes unnoticed, only making its presence known the closer it gets to your best friend’s special day.
Yes, it’s the one where you get up, gently tap your champagne glass and feel everyone’s eyes on you as you prepare to give your best friend a fitting sendoff into a new chapter of her life.
Now, I’m pretty sure you’ve been to your fair share of weddings and seen countless bridesmaid deliver maid of honor speeches that have encapsulated their bond with the bride in a beautiful manner.
But have you ever wondered how it'd be when it's your turn? Or how you'd cram so many years of memories into a single, meaningful message? Well, the good news is, you’re not alone - this is a thought that multiple maids of honors have had over the years.
While you know what makes your best friend or sister unique and can answer that question in a heartbeat, putting it into words is a different task altogether.
Having a way with words can definitely help but they are not the only ingredients in the success formula.
Believe me, you can still make a funny or touching wedding toast even if you are as clueless as a 50-pound turkey pardoned by the U.S president on thanksgiving day!
Your speech is going to be one of the major highlights of the day, so here are some time-tested tips, ideas, guidelines, and templates that I have personally compiled so that the writing process isn’t daunting, but rather delightful.
Let’s jump right in, shall we?
But Before We Do, Please Take Note Of This
With their thoughts often not getting translated into words, or having a proverbial writer’s block each time they sit down to pen their feelings, most women tend to look up speech examples online in the hopes of kick-starting their own.
While this method does have its advantages, it also has several drawbacks as you run the risk of sounding cliché.
Just like how you would never visit another country without conducting ample research beforehand, the sample applies for your speech as well - it won’t have the intended effect if you just write what’s on your mind after reading a couple of examples.
So here’s what you’ll need to know before you write down your ideas.
Every well-written maid of honor speeches goes through these writing processes:
Idea-hatching process
The writing process
The drafting and redrafting process
Ready to discover more? Don’t worry - we’ll take it one step at a time so you can come up with the best speech ever in no time at all.
Don’t Fast Track The First Step
Before you start shaping your sentences, there’s one important part of the speech writing journey to address - the pre-writing or idea-hatching process.
This usually kicks in before you make your first draft, so use this stage to jot all your ideas down.
Wondering where to find them? Below, you’ll a few places to harness creative ideas that can be of great help.
When you’re in the prewriting stage, rough it out. Grab some paper, a pen or pencil and start making notes of your friendship milestones - the shared memories, the inside jokes, the phrases...write down whatever you’d like to include in your speech from those videos!
Just stay calm and enjoy the fun dear!

I found this on this website: www. weddingbee.com and I am glad to share that with you because it perfectly captures the essence of what the writing process is all about. I really want to thank Natasha for posting it there.
So, here a
Short And Sweet Maid Of Honor Speech Example/Template...
“Hello everyone. My name is Natasha, and I am very happy to be here tonight to celebrate the wedding of my dear friend Mary to her new husband Felix. Mary you look absolutely stunning tonight.
But only if you can handle caffeine hyped Mary
Always remember that I along with the rest of your friends and family will always be here to support you.
Well, if you enjoyed that short speech, that’s wonderful to hear, because we’re going to be collectively crafting something like that shortly!
Continue reading to know how the writer wrote the above example for her best friend so that you can use my advice and prevent your best friend or sister from pouring champagne over your head (just kidding).
Using the above example, I will now explain how to structure a speech in the writing stage.
Let’s Start By Learning How To Write An Amazing Maid of Honor Speech Like A Pro!

''Hello everyone. My name is Natasha, and I am very happy to be here tonight to celebrate the wedding of my dear friend Mary to her new husband Felix''
As you have already observed, the first couple of lines have the following references:
Introduction of the speaker
Audience greeting (which is in line with typical wedding etiquette)
Words that represent thankfulness/gratitude
All of that should form a modest part of your self-introduction.
Even if you are introduced by the preceding speaker, it still makes sense to let everyone know who you are to the bride.
That’s it. Let’s move on to another section of our speech. First, an extract once again to guide us along.
Happy Married Life Two You
''If you don’t know the story, Mary and Felix met each other at her sister’s wedding almost 3 years ago, and it was love at first sight. No distance could keep them apart, and even from the Dominican Republic, Felix serenaded Mary over Skype and text messages. His charm and sweet words soon won her over, and she took a leap of faith in love….''
Now, this sets up good insights into the nature of the newly-married couple - it sheds light on:
How they met
How their courtship period was
How their relationship is
Reaffirming words that celebrate their decision to get married
Bring On The Body Or The Structure of Your Bridesmaid Toast
Now, before we get into the body of the speech, put on your creative thinking caps and find answers to these questions on a piece of paper:
What is the length of your toast going to be?
Are you going to primarily deliver a funny maid of honor speech or are you going to combine emotions?
A key element to look out for is consistency - For example: if you want to go down the hilarious route, you should look for humorous incidents that will support the theme of your toast.
Let’s pause briefly and consider this:
''To the beautiful bride Mary: we met back in first grade, and I am honored to still be one of your closest friends and celebrate with you on this special day. Typically the maid of honor gives some marriage advice.
I am not yet an expert on marriage, but I am an expert on Mary. I know that Felix will not only be your husband but your new best friend. So Felix I would like to share some insights from Mary’s very old best friend to her new very best friend.''
Here, this paragraph has a sweet/humorous hint to it, as Natasha is telling Felix that while she may not be a marriage-expert, she is definitely a Mary-expert.
It also evidences a touching gesture, as Natasha acknowledges Felix’s new position in Mary’s best friend line up and is passing on her knowledge to him.
This will start off the body of the speech, as well as answer the important questions (who you are, what you mean to the bride and vice versa, etc).
Ask yourself questions like:
When did both of you become friends? If you are her sister, recapture memories of when she was born if you are an older sister. Ask yourself if there’s anything memorable about that incident?
What activities did you both engage in growing up or when you met each other?
What do you remember the best about her?
How has your life changed with her presence in it? I guess you have a lot to say here if you are doing this for your big sister. On the contrary, you may share life lessons you have learned from your little sister or how her character has been shaped by events in the past.
The show is still on…so, let’s re-look at some other excerpts!
Felix, uh, you can take advantage of this…”
As stated above, this is Natasha’s touching/humorous take on equipping Felix with some tried-and-tested best friend advice regarding Mary.
This approach always works great if a simple and sweet speech maid of honor speech is what you have in mind (it also works well if you have a few days to your friend’s wedding).
So, if you find yourself in this situation, consider structuring your speech by including one or more of these ideas:
Write down what’s memorable: Jot down eventful stories across all eras of your shared lives (childhood, school, adolescence, college, work, etc) - this way, you can look at them all and choose which ones make the final cut.
Speak your heart out (to the heart): Nothing tugs at the heartstrings than sincerity coupled with emotional prose.
Reference your childhood: Talk about your bond with each other as well as share any anecdotes that may be sweet/funny (For example Natasha recounting the pillow throwing incident)
Admire what’s admirable: Talk about the bride’s character traits that you have supporting details for (For example Mary’s courage and her drive to knock sense into people)
Keep it light and lively: You can combine two speech styles to produce a memorable message that everyone will enjoy (For example: while the lead up to these 5 points was emotional, the 5 points in question are worded quite colloquially, to inspire laughs)
Don't be Selfish... Talk About The Groom Too
As you are the bridesmaid, you will be expected to say a couple of lines about your best friend’s or sister’s better half.
Here are some tips to help you with the same:
Talk about the first time you met him
Mention how he’s changed your best friend’s or sister life for the better
Describe his good qualities
Talk about how he balances/encourages/motivates your best friend
Welcome him to the family in your own way!
How To Write A Great Ending For Your Maid of Honor Speech That Will Remain With The Guests For Forever
Just like how you started your speech on a spectacular note, you’ll have to ensure that you close it on an equally eventful (if not more) level as well. After all, the last quarter is often, usually the one that’s remembered the most, right?
Here are some proven tips to help you close your maid of honor speech with a bang:
If you’re married yourself, you can share your favorite part(s) about marriage and describe what you can’t wait for your best friend to experience
You can end by referencing a sweet gesture that your best friend has done for you (For instance: Natasha speaking about Mary’s graduation letter)
Narrating your favorite poem or literary piece to conclude the proceedings. You may use this poem by Linda Harrison and I found it on this website: www.familyfriendpoems.com
The time has come to stand side by side The Groom in his glory, his beautiful Bride. They've waited so long for this moment in time To take their vows and say, "Will you be mine?"
Marriage is precious and to be treasured. The love that you have can never be measured. It joins you as one, not just with a ring, But a future together and what it will bring.
Keep the love alive and make it last. Remember the good times don't live in the past. The bond that you have shows the world that you care not just for yourselves but for the family you share
Who knows what the future may hold? Stay strong together until you grow old. Be there for each other, keep good memories alive. With love and respect, you will always survive.
Today is your day to cherish forever, Never forget what brought you together. This special time is just for you, A time to remember when you've said: "I do."
If we want to make something out of that, then we start with this:
Both of you have always wondered if this day would ever come because you’ve been through a lot. At last, you have been united in love to support and to care for each other through good times and bad.
Your marriage is God’s best gift to you both.
Your marriage is not only sacred but precious and meant to be treasured. The love that you have can never be measured because true love itself is priceless and your marriage is more precious than anything you can ever imagine. So love each other always and your story will be beautifully written on the footprints of time.
Did you notice how I used those underlined words in that poem to draft that piece of advice? That works all the time even if you are not married.
If you are not sure if giving a piece of advice will work for you, then you can simply offer your best wishes for their marriage.
Any of these would be great for this purpose
I can't think of two people who are more deserving of true love, happiness, and a lifetime of both. You can make so go for it.
You look good together and I can’t wait to see how you build your lives with harmony. I wish you the very best.
Again, movie quotes can help you close memorably. Let’s look at a few of them
''When you realize you want to spend the rest of your life with somebody, you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible." - When Harry Met Sally, 1989
"Love is passion, obsession, someone you can’t live without. If you don’t start with that, what are you going to end up with?" - Meet Joe Black, 1998
"It doesn’t matter if the guy is perfect or the girl is perfect, as long as they are perfect for each other." - Good Will Hunting, 1997
Here is your assignment:Write down simple words of encouragement or best wishes for the bride using your preferred movie quote and add it to your speech.
Furthermore, if you or the bride is a committed Christian or a religious person, then you can pick some relevant passages from the bible.
Here are a couple of bible verses for your perusal:
4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
9 Two are better than one because they have a good return for their labor: 10 If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up. 11 Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm. But how can one keep warm alone? 12 Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.
22 Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands as you do to the Lord. 23 For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. 24 Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything. 25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her 26 to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word,
Please note this carefully: Even if you or the couple are not rooted in faith, you can still swipe any of those bible verses because love is the universal language all loving couples know how to speak best.
Brush Up & Final Touches
When you’ve written down every single detail, it might seem to you like your speech is never going to end.
But that’s okay - pat yourself on the back and congratulate yourself on writing your first-ever draft! After you’ve grabbed a nice strong coffee or kicked back with a soothing chamomile blend, you can always come back to the piece, read it aloud and trim/elongate it based on the time you have and the event itinerary details.
But how long should your speech be? Answers to all that and more right below!
What Clocks Up A Good Speech?
The thumb rule of any effective speech is that it should be long enough like a very beautiful floor-sweeping wedding dress to cover all the important aspects.
However, if your story is very engaging, interactive, and humorous, there is a very good chance that the wedding guests will be hooked on every single word (even if the speech is longer than usual). So, don’t worry about how long or short it is.
But conventionally speaking, medium-sized speeches usually perform the best.
Another tip is to tailor your speech to suit the venue - you can narrate separate sections at the rehearsal dinner, the bridal shower, or even at the reception.
However, it’s best to stick to a single plan as being the maid of honor is quite taxing in its own way - ultimately, a speech shouldn’t be adding on to that stress.
As long as your piece captures the essence of your relationship with the bride, it’s good to go.
So, here’s your homework assignment: Using the maid of honor speech ideas you have gleaned from this piece, can you start working on it right away or you really need help to make it extra special?
Do you really believe in the popular saying that a friend in need is a friend indeed? If you really believe in that, then you have no choice but to make your friend or sister proud.

Ways to include humor in your speech and what it takes to do so
Won’t you be glad if your maid of honor speech made your friend or sister proud and happy? And won’t you be so happy if you could say what you want to say without trying so hard? How about receiving several complimentary remarks from the wedding guests after you are done speaking confidently?
It is the desire of every maid of honor to say what she wants to say confidently. But as you know that won't just happen because you first have to write a great script and practice it until it comes to you naturally.
Well, despite what is going on through your mind, you can still give a maid speech that will leave everyone speechless if you let go of your beliefs about speaking in public and believe that you can.
In this piece, I will show you all that you have to do if you want to calm your nerves and say what's on your mind with poise on the bride's big day.
There are five stages you have to walk through to get a nice speech written.
The first stage is the
MENTAL PREPARATORY STAGE
This is the stage where you get rid of everything that acts as a barrier in your life. One thing that draws us back as humans are doubt and low self-esteem.
How you see yourself will determine how far you go in life. Do you see yourself as someone successful? Or you see yourself as a failure? Whatever picture you have in your mind will determine what you get out of life.
Granted, many maids don’t really believe in their own abilities, and that undermines their ability to perform when they are called to say what they know about their friend or sister. It stands then to reason that you need to have faith in yourself because you are the only people who know your friend or sister intimately.
Don’t let your past experiences prevent you from doing well. Remember, the wedding is a different ball game and if you believe you can make it, and then nothing can stop you from achieving success.
You are probably nervous because you don’t believe you can. Get rid of that ''fog'' in your mind and tell yourself that you can change your world and you will wow the guests with an amazing performance.
The second stage you have to look at is
INQUIRY STAGE
This is a critical part of your performance. It is also known as the preparatory stage. Where you have to ask yourself a lot of questions. By doing so, you will get the answers you need to help you craft your maid of honor speech.
Here are such questions and you need to write your answers on a sheet of paper
What am I going to say?
How can I say it best?
How am I going to write my speech?
Who will help me write my speech?
Where can I get ideas to help me write my speech?
How do I know if my message will be accepted by the wedding guests or not?
I know some of these questions are on your mind as you read. Take heart and don’t be afraid because I will teach you what to do next.
If you have got answers to the above questions, then you will be in a position to get your speech written.
If you want to say what you want to say in the correct outline, then you have to grab speech samples because they contain ideas, tips, professionally written speech samples, and other tools to help you achieve your goals.
You can also use jokes and even stories to help you write your speech. In case, you decide to use a joke or story, then their contents should be connected to your message or it will backfire.
Again, you can share some anecdotes about your friend or sister. Sit back and reflect on such true tales of you and the bride. It could something memorable you encountered at a birthday party, a wedding reception, or when you were growing up.
Make sure you list as many ideas that fly in your head because you never know which one might help you flow smoothly when you start to write.
Before you grab your pen to write, you should incubate your ideas. Incubation of ideas is to simply meditate on the ideas you've come up with in your head and critically study a couple of maid speech examples till you are well acquainted with how such speeches are written.
Then, write your speech and you did be amazed at effortlessly you write. You then begin with the introduction, which is fairly easy to write. The answers to the questions you wrote earlier should help you write your body and the toast.
The next stage is
THE POST WRITING STAGE
This is the stage that involves re-writing, editing and re-editing. Don’t worry if you don’t like the way it is written after you've gotten your first draft. Keep on cutting it down and it will come out the way you want it.
After you are done, you can shelf it for a day or two, and come back to it and prune it one more time. Alternatively, you can ask someone you trust to review it but make sure, that person doesn’t alter the contents in any way.
And finally, the last stage is
THE PRE- PERFORMANCE STAGE
At this point, you have to read over your refined speech till you know it like ABC. Then you can go ahead and rehearse your wedding speech till the confidence in you comes out. But you don’t have to stop there. Keep on doing that till you are super confident because consistent performance kills poor performance.

A minister recognized the young man standing at the back of the church one Sunday as someone whose wedding ceremony he had conducted a few months earlier. After the service, the young man was waiting to talk to the minister.
''Tell me, Reverend, do you believe that someone should profit from the mistake of others? ''
''Definitely not,'' said the minister.
''Young man….may I know why you are asking this question?''
''Well, Reverend, you never told me what was in it''
''In what?'' the preacher quipped
''Hmm…in my marriage…I have already written down the number of fights we’ve had and I don’t think it’s fair that I paid you to officiate for that wedding…Is there any hope?''
''That happens all the time and you have to be extra patient to make things work…Ok, can I see you and the bride next week?''
''Okay I will try…But can I have back the 50 dollars I paid for the wedding?''
''Young man….I have never heard any groom asking any preacher for this peculiar kind of refund…You don’t know what my wife and I have been through to get thus far….You were smiling when making your vows….Do you think marriage is for boys?''
I hope that joke made your day! Well, the bride trust you which is why she’s asked you to write and deliver an amazing maid of honor speech on her wedding day. But do you really have what it takes to write a unique maid of honor toast ?
This is Not That Hard As You Can Imagine
You see, the obvious and reasonable thing most wedding speakers do when looking for ideas is to look them up online.
That’s obviously is one of the best places to get proven ideas to help you put your thoughts together.
However, several maid of honors or bridesmaid simply copy and edit the maid of honor speech examples they find without first figuring out how best they can adapt them to their needs. And that takes the shine off what would have otherwise been an indispensable writing tool.
Well, maid of honor speech examples or templates can be used as models of inspiration and inspiration to come up with the right ideas.
Guess what, my friend? There are actually two kind of maid of honor wedding toast examples:
video examples
written templates
Video examples acts more like a frequent traveler planning on visiting a new place. Some pre-trip planning and research is involved. So, it is with a maid of honor who’s been to many weddings in her lifetime and has never made a wedding speech. But still wants to put on a great show.

Afterward, we will analyze one of them and break it down but by bit with clear and relevant examples so you can get a crystal clear idea of how to write a memorable maid of honor speech about the bride and groom.
Here they are:
Maid of Honor Speech For Best Friend Example# 1
A big thank you goes to Wedding Bee for sharing this on their website.
Maid of Honor Speech or Toast Template For Twin Sister # 2
A big thank you goes to hitched.co.uk for sharing this on their website.
Good evening ladies and gentlemen. Thank you for being here to celebrate Chris and Kristy's very special day. For those of you who don't know me, my name is Catherine. No one knows Kristy longer than I do—I've known her since we met in my mother's womb! Yes, we are twins! So, I think this qualifies me for being the ‘Maid of Honor’ tonight.
First of all, congratulations to the new couple, Chris and Kristy! You look radiant today! I can see the happiness written all over your faces! And Kristy, I've never seen you look so beautiful!!!
As Kristy's twin sister, I've had the opportunity to watch her grow and evolve into the wonderful woman she is today. When I look back on our childhood adventures, there were so many fond memories.
When we were 5 years old and had just learned how to scratch matches, we were eager to practice our new skill.
And there was nothing more satisfying than seeing the flame erupt from the match, and then watch it burn things into ashes. So what should we burn?
Kristy, using her superb Communication and Negotiation skills, persuaded the Boy next door to grab his parents’ books, bring them over, and page by page, we burnt them all!
Since then, Kristy and I were banned from his house. So Chris, be aware that your girl likes kindling the fire, and make sure you can handle it!
Aside from loving to kindle the fire, Kristy is also kind and caring. In addition, she puts thoughts, effort, and dedication into everything she does. Chris, I know Kristy will embrace her new role as your wife in the same way, and infuse the marriage with love, respect, and trust.
Since meeting Chris last year, Kristy's life has been truly transformed from Good to Great. Chris has this amazing ability to balance work and life, and this allowed for frequent fun times, which soon led to romance.
Perhaps the trails in Central Park are the best witnesses for their blossoming romance. On my smartphone, I still have tons of videos of the “Political Trio” enjoying a lazy Sunday morning in the park.
For those who are puzzled, let me explain – the formidable political trio refers to – Chris-Kristy (Not the New Jersey Governor, but rather, our gorgeous couple), Bloomberg (not the former New York Mayor! But rather, Kristy's Shih Tzu puppy), and Henry (not Henry the 8th, former King of England! But rather, Chris's furry friend.)
Watching Henry and Bloomberg exuberantly chasing each other along with Chris and Kristy, I see pure joy and happiness. I have no doubt that the two furry friends will give this Chris-Kristy union 4 paws up!
My husband and I first met Chris when he and Kristy came to visit us in Houston last Christmas. Our impression of Chris was that he was a very approachable, fun, and easy-going person.
We had heard about his superb culinary skills, but he really took us by surprise when he cooked a very authentic Chinese Sichuan peppercorn shrimp meal.
Seeing Kristy by Chris’ side in the kitchen brimming with joy, and together creating something special, I knew at that moment, that Kristy had finally met her soul mate.
I trust that our Master Chef Chris not only knows how to make a sweet apple pie, but also how to make lemonade when life throws you lemons!
Chris, I can't thank you enough for making Kristy feel so complete. I can rest assured now, knowing that my dear sister is with a smart, loving, and compassionate man. I feel blessed that you have found each other.
Dale Carnegie said “Success is getting what you want. Happiness is wanting what you get.” By this definition, you both have success already.
I wish your happiness continues to grow by wanting each other more and more with each passing day!
And finally, I'd like to borrow a verse from Kristy's favorite musical: “Say you'll share with me one love, one lifetime Say the word and I will follow you Share each day with me, each night, each morning Love me, that's all I ask of you.”
Everyone, would you please be upstanding, and raise your glass to toast the new couple. To Chris and Kristy, One Love, One Lifetime!
Finally, let’s look at…
Maid of Honor Speech For Sister Example # 3
A big thank you goes to hitched.co.uk for sharing this on their website.
Hello everyone. Thank you for being here to help celebrate Brooke and Brian. For those of you who don’t know me, I’m Faith, the maid of honor and Brooke’s little sister.
I want to give a special thank you to our parents, Mary and Robert, and Brian’s parents, Gloria and William, for making today possible. You all have set an amazing example of lasting love and what it truly means to be married. Thank you!
You all have set an amazing example of lasting love and what it truly means to be married. Thank you!
Looking back, Brooke, you were an amazing big sister to me. I have to admit that I don’t think I truly appreciated all that you did for me growing up.
Pretty much every single one of my memories as a child has you in them and was as wonderful because of you. I remember spending all day playing “Olden Days.”
We would start out in the morning picking out our outfits in the costume box. Once we had our back story, persona and outfit set, we would venture outside, and use the four-wheeler as a stand-in covered wagon for the trip out west. The day would usually end up with us making elaborate berry, leaf, and sawdust pies at our out-door kitchen on the stone wall.
Or I remember how you would play Barbies with me, even when you probably were too old to find it fun anymore. But you always humoured me.
I remember spending all day playing “Olden Days.” We would start out in the morning picking out our outfits in the costume box.
When I was little I loved stuffed animals a lot! I had one stuffed animal named Lambie. Every summer, Brooke would help Lambie go away on an adventure. I wouldn’t see Lambie for weeks!
I never missed her much because the best part was that Lambie would write me letters about what she was doing. Brooke would deliver me the special little letters and then help me write and send ones back to Lambie. And let me tell you, Lambie did some amazing things.
As we got older, Brooke, you still included me in your life when the last thing a lot of teenagers would have done is spend time with their pre-teen, annoying sister. When you got your first job at Dunkin and your driver’s license, I was the envy of my six-grade class because you took me to the mall at least twice a week.
You even would spend your hard-earned money on things for me so I wouldn’t feel left out when you bought stuff! Later, you continued to always include me in your life and, as we get older, we’ve grown even closer.
When you got your first job at Dunkin and your driver's license, I was the envy of my six-grade class because you took me to the mall at least twice a week.
Beyond spending time with me, you were and still are an amazing example for me. I have always looked up to you and looked to you on the appropriate ways to act, dress and behave. You have been my role model for years and always will be. I am so proud of the woman you are today.
Brian, I am so happy that you and Brooke found one another. I knew you were special from the very beginning. After one of your first dates, the one in Putnam at the antique mall, Brooke couldn’t wait to tell me about it at work the next day. She was absolutely beaming and couldn’t contain her huge smile.
She told me how you guys stayed up till 1 am just laughing and then she showed me a picture of you modelling a silly antique jacket with tails and a top hat! I knew it meant something.
She told me how you guys stayed up till 1 am just laughing and then she showed me a picture of you modelling a silly antique jacket with tails and a top hat!
Brooke is obviously beautiful, sophisticated and intelligent. However, not a lot of people know how incredibly hilarious and funny Brooke is.
When she was little, we all thought she would have her own sketch comedy show or be on the stage because of all the characters she would make up and how she always made us laugh. Brian, you bring that side out of Brooke. You allow her to be her true self in every form. Brooke, you have found the perfect complement for you. You both have so much to offer the world and each other.
On this day, 133 years ago on June 16, 1884, the very first roller coaster in America opened up at Coney Island. I think this is very fortuitous.
A familiar saying uses a rollercoaster as a metaphor for marriage. It goes, ‘In marriage scream from the peaks, hold hands through the dips, laugh through the loops and enjoy every twist and turn, for the ride is better because you share it together.’
If everyone can now raise their glass and join me in congratulating Brooke and Brian. May your love be modern enough to survive the times and old fashioned enough to survive forever. Congratulations!
Now, Let’s See How We Can Use The Last Example To Write A Maid Of Honor Speech Toast.
If you read all three samples, you will realize that each has an introduction, body, and conclusion.
Let’s start with…
How To Write The Introduction Of Your Maid Of Honor Speech
We are going to use that last example as our model for inspiration, so let’s re-look at the introduction so you can figure out what to say and what not to say.
Hello everyone. Thank you for being here to help celebrate Brooke and Brian. For those of you who don’t know me, I’m Faith, the maid of honour and Brooke’s little sister.
I want to give a special thank you to our parents, Mary and Robert, and Brian’s parents, Gloria and William, for making today possible. You all have set an amazing example of lasting love and what it truly means to be married. Thank you!
The opening lines comprise of two parts:
part (a)which includes your name and relationship to the bride, greetings, and expression of gratitude.
If you are the bride’s sister, you can thank your mom and dad and your grandparents if they also played a huge role in bringing you up. You can also thank her for asking you to speak and tell her how honored you are to be her maid of honor.
Here’s a mini-assignment to help you write the first part of your introduction: Write down the names of people you would like to acknowledge in your opening remarks.
a. ………………………..
b. …………………….
c. ………………….
Closely connected to part (a) of the introduction are the lines that precede the body of your presentation. That’s what ‘s popularly called the hook of the story.
I culled these lines from the third examples because it’s a continuation of the ideas presented in part (a)
''Looking back, Brooke, you were an amazing big sister to me. I have to admit that I don’t think I truly appreciated all that you did for me growing up.''
That was okay but definitely not very inspiring. These ideas can help yours stand out and make it engaging right from the onset.
First, you can simply compliment the bride and the bride.
Here’s an example:
Anita, you look stunningly beautiful tonight and I am happy to see you sitting next to your prince who’s as cute as a bar of chocolate.
Second, it’s been proven those bridesmaids who sing their opening lines usually become the life of the party. So, if you have a great voice, then why don’t you entertain the wedding guests with a well-known song everyone can sing and dance along to?
Third, you can start with a love or marriage quote about love or friendship. Any of these quotes can help you start on a strong note.
‘’The greatest thing you will ever learn is to love and be loved in return’’ -Moulin Rouge
‘’Every woman deserves to be happy but she becomes her true self when she finds someone who makes her joy complete’’-Jean Dan‘’
A good man is God’s best gift from his treasure box for a good woman’’-Jean Dan
‘’You’ll never know what true love is until you met the person your heart and soul longs for’’-Jean Dan‘’
I never knew what love was until I met you, then when distance pulled us apart, I found out what true love is.’’-
Let me ask you this: Can you use any of the above quotes to write a captivating introduction? Ok…let’s try this together with this simple example.
‘’I never knew what true love meant until I met my best friend twenty years ago….’’
Do you notice how touching the above opening line is? And did you notice how I managed to slot in this quote ‘’ ’I never knew what love was until I met you, then when distance pulled us apart, I found out what true love is.’’ ‘’
''Good afternoon everyone. I am berry happy (comment: berry can replace very in order to excite the audience) …(pause for laughter and say…is it because I ate berries this morning?) that you a lot of you traveled from the ends of the world to be with us…It means a lot.''
Here’s A Question To Ponder : Which of those techniques would you like to use for the second section of your introduction? Just pick one and try jotting down your thoughts on that.
Now, let’s consider…
How To Write The Body or Structure Of Your Speech Using Maid Of Honor Speech Examples
Again, let’s pick up a few lines from the example above to help us ‘’find our way home’’so to speak.
''Pretty much every single one of my memories as a child has you in them and was as wonderful because of you. I remember spending all day playing “Olden Days''
I am happy Faith talked about memories and that’s exactly what the structure of your maid speech entails.
Wondering how to get those memories? Just grab your notepad and pen and write down answers to the following questions:
When and where did you first meet the bride….if you are her sister, talk about her birth
How did your friendship blossom? If you are her sister, share memories about your childhood….the good ones please(no embarrassing stories…only if they have a humorous twist to it
What do you both have in common?
What are some fun and fond memories you remember about the bride?
Talk about the groom too. If you don’t know him too well, just tell him that he’s lucky to have married your friend or sister.
This is what I recommend you do. First, answer the above questions and use them to create an outline or bullet point. Then, write a first draft which you can later edit until it gets better in content and style.
Now,
Here’s How To End or Conclude Your Maid of Honor Speech On A Memorable Note
The conclusion of your toast should pack a punch if you really want memories of your performance to linger on. Here are some tried and tested ideas to help you accomplish this goal.
If you are married, you can end with a nugget about what makes a marriage work.
You can simply share words of encouragement or best wishes for the happy couple
Angels in the Outfield (1994) "Love is that can't-eat, can't-sleep, reach-for-the-stars, over-the-fence, World Series kinda stuff."
Her (2013) For the couple who met online: "The heart’s not like a box that gets filled up. It expands in size the more you love."
Knocked Up (2007): “Marriage is like a tense, unfunny, version of Everybody Loves Raymond, only it doesn’t last 22 minutes. It lasts forever."
A touching poem can be of great help.
If you are a Christian or a born again believer or the couple are, you can spice up your closing remarks with a bible verse or a few scriptures.
I would like to use Psalm 128 to wrap up….it’s such a beautiful bible quote!
Psalm 128(New International Version)
A song of ascents.
1 Blessed are all who fear the Lord, who walk in obedience to him. 2 You will eat the fruit of your labor; blessings and prosperity will be yours. 3 Your wife will be like a fruitful vine within your house; your children will be like olive shoots around your table. 4 Yes, this will be the blessing for the man who fears the Lord.
5 May the Lord bless you from Zion; may you see the prosperity of Jerusalem all the days of your life. 6 May you live to see your children’s children— peace be on Israel.
Can you use that bible verse to write a short prayer or blessing? This is how it goes.
‘’You’ve always put your faith in God and I know it will help you face your battles going forward. The Lord has promised in Psalm 128 that he will bless those who fear him and walk in obedience with him.
So, it’s my hope and prayer you let him the center of this union and your children will be like olive shoots.
God bless you with joy, peace, and happiness, and may you live to see your children’s children.
Did you notice how I used the underlined words creatively? That’s how to go about it. You may even use the ever popular wedding reading: 1 Corinthians 13 for this purpose.
If you know the bride and groom very well, you can point out why they are a perfect match in a hilarious manner.
You also can wrap up with a toast.
Do you really believe in the popular saying that a friend in need is a friend indeed? What about a sister is a gift of the heart?
If you really believe in that, then you have no choice but to make your friend or sister proud. This is the chance to prove to the bride that you really love her.
We can help you make your friend or sister proud and the wedding guests say great things about your speech.
Here’s what one nervous person called Glen sent over after the wedding was over.
Hey Dan, I just wanted to thank you once again for the speech you wrote with me. My goal was met afterward, I was told by many "what a beautiful speech" and received a standing ovation. I couldn't have done this without you. God Bless Dan!- Glen, U.S.A
Want to know how he did just that? He got on board our wedding speech program and one of our talented speech consultants helped him out.

Ways to include humor in your speech and what it takes to do so
It is hard to listen to one of Jennifer Rush's song and not be carried away by its rhythms. One of her ever-popular and best selling compositions is the ''The Power of Love.''
Jennifer's shrill voice, lyrics, her stage antics, and how she begins her songs easily makes her the toast of music lovers worldwide.
You may not have a captivating voice as Jennifer does, but as someone who has been chosen by the bride to support her, you need to do a lot to impress your friend/sister and the guests. One sure way of delighting her is by giving a memorable maid of honor speech on her big day.
A beautiful maid of honor speech with a good opening will certainly ''turn the guests on.''
If you are able to entertain them right from the onset, you might be the heroine of the day. To excite the audience, you could include one or more of these ideas in your opening lines because a great intro will make the guests more willing to listen to the rest of your speech.
First, courtesy implies that you greet the audience and introduce yourself because not everyone knows who you are.
Second, you also have to thank your friend for choosing you to be her maid of honor. As part of your intro, you can also thank the couple for their kind words about you.
Third, you may also tell the guests how long you have known your friend/sister.
You can also begin your speech with narration and tie it to a story of how and where the couples met. Let me give an example of a speech extract here:
''God blesses us when we give off our time to the needy. Caring for the poor brings us many blessings and favors, and even a caring man. When Karen told me that she had met the man of her dreams while working as a fundraiser for hungry children in Rwanda, I knew it was a blessing. ''
Again, if you can play any musical instrument or you are a gifted singer, you could also set your maid of honor speech in song. You might even ask your fellow bridesmaid to help you sing if you want your words to have a chorus-like effect.
Rendering your speech in a song is one way of making your speech very memorable. The greatest maid of honor speech in history and the ones you are going to enjoy at any wedding you are invited to will be very unique if the person sets her words to music.
Sometimes, you don’t really have to sit to write a speech. Just change one or two words of a popular or even a lesser-known song and you will become like a celebrity.
Take this example. Not long ago, Jennifer Gabrielli of Cincinnati raised the bar high when she shook her audience with an inspirational maid of honor speech. Hers was based on the adaptation of Eminem’s song… Without you.
Rather than share some boring story about how her big sister means the world to her, or share a joke about a particularly nasty fight they got into when they were teenagers, Gabrielli took a rather unique approach to describe her sister and brother-in-law's relationship during their nuptials in a song-like speech.
The amazing performance starts with Gabrielli saying, "I like to sing, and while I'm not going to sing for you tonight, I did prepare a little bit of a musical snack…so if you would all listen up, here we go…"
After this event, the great Gabrielle’s fantastic performance was picked up by the various news outlets and she’s become very famous for her feet-tapping performance.

Ways to include humor in your speech and what it takes to do so
Phillipa Middleton, sister of Kate Middleton has become world-famous for her role as her sister’s maid of honor. Her maid of honor dress was quite a sensation.
Just like Phillipa, your friend has asked you to be her maid of honor, and how you carry out this role can bring a special touch because you are distinct and dignified and the couple holds you in high esteem.
With hundreds of eyes fixed on you, you have a big responsibility on your shoulders. Don't put off the planning and writing of your wedding speech. You will come under intense pressure and that may spoil your delivery if you do so.
Well, here are some things you must practice and things you must avoid if you want to give a memorable speech
Until Kate’s wedding, Phillipa was not known before the wedding. But her confident smile made her the toast of the global audience.
You too can’t let fear hold you back. Fear comes when you feel inadequate for the task at hand. Don’t dwell on your fears, but see the positive side of your performance. Your to-do list should allot time for the writing and planning process.
At times, we get so stuck in the preparation for the wedding ceremony that we put the writing of the maid of honor speech at the bottom of the list. This leaves many maids of honor sweating and nervous when they realize too late they have to give one.
Faith in your God-given gift of speech will push you on. Just as you eat a balanced diet because it's good for your body, it stands to reason then that your ability to speak well has been noticed and so you should appreciate it.
Giving a maid of honor speech is a labor of love. When you have love, you have hope, and hope produces determination and ultimately achievement.
A real dampener is to cast your friend in a negative light. Even if it is well deserved. It’s not the time or place and you will only be embarrassing her.
Don’t mention any quarrels, arguments, or problems your friendship has suffered in the past. Avoid mentioning touchy issues like her ex-boyfriends if she has had any, as well as her professional and academic failures.
Also, avoid alluding to embarrassing childhood events that made her a butt of jokes. Other taboo topics such as sex jokes, racial or ethnic comments can be unpleasant.
