As a Christian and professional father of the bride wedding speech writer, I know how hard it is to write and deliver one, due to the scarcity of useful resources on the subject.

- How find great ideas and tips for your Christian father of the bride wedding speech for your daughter and son

Well, let’s dive right in by looking at this Christian or spiritual father of the bride wedding speech example.
Here it is:
Christian Father Of The Bride Wedding toast example
On behalf of Lina and myself, I’d like to start by saying thank you for coming today to celebrate with us this joyous occasion.
For those of you who don’t know, our first was a bit chubby for a year or two. She kicked in the womb and didn’t stop moving her legs for several years. Now we see it as her first workout routine.
Most fathers believe that their children are the smartest kids alive. The only difference in my belief is that I happen to be right. Sandra was a smart little girl and learned how to spell and define every new word she came across in the numerous books read to her.
I made up stories to entertain her and often would read interesting stories from the Orange County Register for discussion.
At about seven years old she came to work with me at Panasonic on Saturdays. She would play with the PC for a while and we just spent time together.
Once, I caught her having a talk with the president of Sony America. Later I gingerly asked what they talked about and Sandra replied that he tried to fool her with a trick. When that failed, he challenged her spell his last name. She promptly spelled it out correctly. Then she revealed he wore a name tag.
Sandra skipped kindergarten which worried us. She gravitated towards adult conversations that developed into a sharp wit and little patience for those who underestimated her. Which is a testament to her new husband.
Dan ’s creative cheeky manner is an attraction she couldn’t say no to. I don’t think he ever underestimated her. Her junior year Sandra changed High Schools and using her dance background she tried out for the cheerleader squad.
One door closes to her; she will gladly open the next one. A short time after a VW bug stops at our house and four huge guys get out. They were linemen for a semi pro football team and she was now a cheerleader.
Lin and I didn’t know what to think so we took jobs with the team while Sandra recruited friends. We had a great time for 2 years while the team won the West Coast Championship. I stopped estimating her capabilities and appreciated her abilities to seize the moment.
We had fun together until the aliens took her brain. Maybe 13 years old her interests went where mine had never been before.
For a time, the alien story was the only way to explain her behavior to friends. We thought our kids were normal but Sandra made the aliens real for us. Down the road they did give her brain back. A long, long road.
From high school Sandra transitioned to college and out of the home. To me it was a small victory but to Lina it was a loss.
Sandra felt it was a high point of her life. We trusted her but she kept telling us everything that happened. At the right time Sandra parted ways from the local college and went to Witman University where she excelled.
Seizing the moment, she applied to graduate school at Pepperdine. Working hard she graduated in 2 years with a Masters in Economic Policy. Sandra began her career as Texas Governor Rick Perry’s policy specialist.
She has always progressed up the ladder gaining invaluable experience that brought her more success. Circle back with her if you are interested in what she does now. She will gladly tell you about it. More seizing the moment!
Of course, she also seized Dan. Dan is her rock and a compass that she trusts. He comforts her in stormy days and shines a light with his complementary knowledge.
My feeling towards Dan at first was show me the ring and I will remember your name. I was impressed by the storybook manner regarding how they met each other. It seems there was a young lady celebrating her graduation with a trip to Africa.
There were tigers to hold and beaches of enchantment to visit. At that precise time a young man came to Kenya to run another marathon. He had given up hope of meeting the right woman as most of his marathons took place in harsh environments like a jungle and the North Pole.
When least expected they found each other and started a 6-year adventure to be here. He finally showed her the ring.
But while I love my daughter dearly, I also feel like I owe Gavin a couple of stories, maybe just a couple of cautionary tales.
I was been brainwashed to believe any traffic collision was not her fault. She taught me that $200 was a normal price for jeans but cheap sunglasses were ok.
Once she tricked me with a story of guys following her at the mall, I rushed there to save her. The scary boys were nowhere to be seen but there was this perfect prom dress I should see. Failing to mention it was over Mom’s budget by $100 I bought it for her and it cost more than I bargained for at home.
But at the end of the day, I loved every moment of being her dad. I was inspired to work harder and bring home more bacon. I had 33 jobs when our son was born.
I always set aside play time for Sandra after work. I think that the warning stories aside, you are getting a great partner that will stand by you for life. And I know you will be worthy of her.
She cares about others and is always interested in them. When she was young this was especially true for Grandma and Grandpa.
We are so honored to see the two of you become one in love and I am very confident that you will find real joy in living together.
We love you both. The Lord bless you and keep you;
The Lord make His face shine upon you, And be gracious to you;
The Lord lift up His countenance upon you,
And give you peace all the days of your lives.
Dan and Sandra, here to your joy and happiness from this day forward. Cheers!
The above speech is a very simple but sweet father of the bride toast any father would be so proud to deliver on her daughter’s wedding day.
Now, let’s break it down bit by bit so we can figure out what goes into writing a great speech like the one we have just looked at.
Before we delve deep into this, there are a few things I would like to draw your attention to about writing faith-based father of the bride toasts.
First, your speech is not supposed to be a sermon. It is simply a recollection of memories of what life has been like with your daughter since she came into your life years ago.
Second, your wedding speech for your daughter shouldn’t solely be about her life. You should be about your son-in-law too.
Third, if the majority of the wedding guests are Christians, then, you should tailor your message accordingly so that they can feel the impact of your words.
That being said, let’s see how we can use the above example to help you say something about your precious daughter.
How to Write a Heartfelt Dad’s Wedding Speech for Your Daughter
Now, take another look at the template above. If you go back and read it once more, you will realize that it’s composed of three parts.
To create a clear and effective speech, it’s helpful to mentally dive your speech into those three parts or sections: an introduction, a body, and a conclusion.
This will make it fairly easy to know where to start and where to end.
Now, let’s get into each of those parts.
First, the introduction or opening remarks.
You know, a lot of dads don’t put too much thought into their opening remarks and that’s probably because they seem pretty easy to write.
It’s common to see the following features in them:
- Name of the father of the bride and his relationship with the bride and groom
- Greetings
- Thanking the wedding guests for coming to celebrate with the couple
- Mentioning special individuals who have been a huge blessing in the bride’s life like your pastors, coaches, and so on
- Also, thanking the parents of the groom for welcoming the bride into their family
An example is seen below:
Good evening and welcome everyone. It was wonderful to see our happy to see our happy couple surrounded by loving family and supportive friends as they were united in holy matrimony
Well, if most of your wedding guests are from your church or denomination, consider acknowledging them with a nod to their religious or church slogan.
Here’s an example to illustrate this point.
Ebenezer! Ebenezer! Ebenezer! God is good all the time and God is good…all the time. Isn’t God good? Good evening and welcome to the celebration of love of my daughter and the man of her life on this special reception night.
After covering the basics in your opening lines, it’s time to start your wedding toast with a bang-but this is where many fathers unfortunately struggle.
To start with a bang, you should write a very engaging intro that draws your listeners into your speech.
You can easily do that with one or more of the following ideas.
- First, you can draw the wedding guests in by starting with a memorable story about the birth of your daughter. It could be an anecdote that happened before or during the time she was born.
- Second, you can start with a bible quote or verse. Here are some bible verses you may use.
- ‘’He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.’’---Ecclesiastics 3:11
- ‘’This is the day the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.’’--- Psalm 118: 24
- A Time for Everything
- There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens: a time to be born and a time to die, --- Ecclesiastics 3: 2
Here’s an example from the book of Ecclesiastics 3:2
Scripture reminds us in Ecclesiastics 3: 2 that there’s a time for everything under the heavens. Tonight, we have gathered in the name of the Almighty God to give thanks for this blessed union and to celebrate the precious gift of love he’s bestowed on our son and daughter.
Third, if your daughter has been through a lot in her life or a lot happened prior to her wedding day and you had to put it off, you can start like this:
No one would have thought that we would be gathered here to celebrate the marriage of Sam and Alexis.
But, God’s so faithful and his word has promised to bring beauty out of ashes. And isn’t that what we are seeing before our very eyes? We are seeing joy still exists, and love always prevails. We give him praise for that.
Now that we have covered the intro, let’s explore the steps to help you write the body or content of your wedding toast for your daughter.
Unless you have a light bulb moment where great ideas suddenly come to you, you will really struggle to write down your thoughts, particularly if you have never made a wedding speech in your lifetime.
Well, whether you are blessed with words or not, the following ideas can help you come up with content for the body of your Christian father of the bride speech.
Ready? Ok, let’s get started.
First, you have to pick a style that reflects your personality.
While many fathers opt for humorous wedding speeches, I have found that a combination of humor and sentimentality resonates more with most dads. Sadly, certain fathers blindly copy speech styles that went viral like this one below.
Oh my goodness. I watched this over and over again and I think it’s by far the best father of the bride wedding toast I have ever heard.
Well, any video or written example you find should rather serve as an inspiration for coming up with a wedding toast that best suits you.
Depending on your personality, you can choose to write in a poetic, narrative, humorous, or even a rhyming father of the bride Christian speech.
Second, you also have to pick a format for your presentation. To do that, you have to ask yourself these simple questions.
- Do you want to tell the most memorable stories from your daughter’s childhood to her adulthood?
- Do you want to dwell on her infant years? If so, what are the most memorable events you want to highlight?
- If you only want to dwell on at least three anecdotes…what would they be?
After you’ve written down some answers to the above questions, you then have to put yourself in the right mindset before you organize your thoughts in the right order.
The next step is this:

Watching Christian father of the bride speech video clips on YouTube can be a great way to spark inspiration and put yourself in the mood to get good ideas for drafting the content of your speech.
By the way, here are two video clips I think can help you get a clear idea of how faith based wedding toasts are done.

I hope you enjoyed both video clips and learned a thing or two from them.
Now, let’s see…
How You Can End Your Christian Father Of The Bride Speech On A Memorable Note
Writing the conclusion or ending of your father of the bride speech shouldn’t be that hard like the rest of your speech as it’s fairly easy to end well.
However, you shouldn’t take this part lightly, as what you write will not only be remembered by the wedding guests but also cherished by your daughter and her spouse long after the wedding bells have stopped ringing.
Thankfully, you need not bang your head against the wall as there are several ideas from scriptures that can help you wrap up your speech on a resounding note, leaving a lasting impression on your audience.
First, you can end with this very profound prayer.
‘’ We love you both. The Lord bless you and keep you;
The Lord make His face shine upon you, And be gracious to you;
The Lord lift up His countenance upon you,
And give you peace all the days of your lives. ‘’
You may also use this prayer from Psalm 128:
5 May the Lord bless you from Zion;
may you see the prosperity of Jerusalem
all the days of your life.
6 May you live to see your children’s children—
peace be on Israel.
Second, you can simply share advice that has helped you navigate your own marriage.
Here’s an example I found from the Transformed Wife website.
Do not act on your emotions but be obedient to the word of God. Put His word daily in you and pray for your husband or wife daily. Love the way Christ loves you and be the help meet you were created to be. Be kind, be sweet, be generous! Submit to him in all things, even the seemingly insignificant. Swallow your pride. Be humble and soft.
Third, if have a decent singing voice, you can make your speech for your daughter and son-in-law unforgettable by singing your closing remarks to the tune of a well-known inspirational or Christian song that holds special meaning for you or your daughter.
Fourth, you can simply use any of these bible verses to wrap up.
- Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.” ~Ecclesiastes 4:12
- Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral.----Hebrews 13:4
- Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands as you do to the Lord. 23For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. 24 Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything. 25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her 26 to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word…..Ephesians 5:22-26 NIV
- Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her 26to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, 27 and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless. 28 In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. 29 After all, no one ever hated their own body, but they feed and care for their body, just as Christ does the church- 30 for we are members of his body. 31 "For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh." 32 This is a profound mystery-but I am talking about Christ and the church. 33 However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband……Ephesians 5:25-34 NIV
- Husbands, in the same way be considerate as you live with your wives, and treat them with respect as the weaker partner and as heirs with you of the gracious gift of life, so that nothing will hinder your prayers….1 Peter 3:7 NIV
