Ok, enough said for the opening lines. Let’s move on to the body of the sample under review... please, let’s re-capture it briefly.

As you can see, the body of the speech outlines what the relationship with your daughter has been like over the years. To come up with the right stuff, you should first determine what the goal or objective of your toast is….

Ask yourself these simple questions:

Do you want a long or short mother of the bride speech?
Do you want a sentimental or hilarious speech or a combo?
What aspect of your daughter’s life do you want to really highlight
Again, if you want to go for something humorous, then, of course, you should choose stories that are naturally amusing.

Suppose, you want to focus on her life, then, you have to pick at least two or three memorable incidents you really want to share with the guests.

For example,

You can share an event that occurred during her childhood
You may also cite an event that happened as she was growing up
You can probably add an event in her adulthood(her accomplishment if you will)
Then, you can tell her how proud you are of her
Next, briefly talk about your son-in-law. Speak sincerely about his admirable qualities and weave in a story that fits.
Lastly, welcome him to your family and thank his parents…

Now, this is what I want you to do. Go over that simple example and read it over and over again and put down memorable stories based on the ideas I have just shared.

Using that example as a guide, please put your story together mindless of how well it flows.

If you have enough time to spare, you can shelf it for a day or two and go back to fine-tune it till it gets better than expected. Remember, all good writing is a never-ending process of continually refining rough mental ideas.

Well, you don’t have to worry if you have a few hours to your daughter’s wedding. If you find yourself in this quagmire, just relax for sometime before taking out the unwanted parts.

That’s essentially the step-by-step process I follow whenever I am writing a speech for anyone.

Here are a few pointers to help you end with a bang….

First, you can end with a quote from the scriptures if you are making a religious mother of the bride speech
