Christening or Baby Baptism Speech from Mom or Dad(Parents) to Son or Daughter (Child)
At last, you too can easily and quickly get the right words to capture your heartfelt emotions into a very beautiful and inspiring christening message for your child!
Let’s face it; your baby is a great blessing from God!
My beautiful daughter is too and so are all the children around the world!
Through them, we catch a rare glimpse of the love God has for us.
Beyond the joy that your son or daughter gives you, you have a sacred responsibility to love, cherish, nurture, and protect your baby so he or she would grow and become a living channel of peace and blessing to the world!
That’s what God expects from you! Are you ready for that? I hope so…
Granted, doing that is not an easy task. You need the strength and wisdom of God to be there for your child every step of the way.
Samuel’s mom, Hannah, realized she had no might to do that. So, even before she was blessed with Israel’s first prophet, she made a vow to dedicate her baby to the Lord.
Bringing your little one before God in the presence of friends and family speak volumes about your trust in Him and I really admire you for that since God alone can help you raise your child more than you can imagine.
Are You Ready For This Easy, Yet Difficult Task?
After your baby has been christened and baptized, you are probably going to have a get-together or party and you might have to make a christening speech.
I know many parents (mom and dad) can’t speak confidently in front of a small audience, let alone say what’s on their hearts during this special time.
If you are one of them, I don’t blame you because speaking in public might probably not be your thing.
Well, I have good news for you. In this revealing piece, I promise to show how to get the right words and ideas to help you write a heartfelt christening or baby baptism speech for your baby
I will buttress points with relevant examples so you can get an idea of how best to go about things ok?
So, please take heart and go grab your pen and paper and put down ideas you feel you can use for your message.
Get Rid Of This ''Demon'' or Else You Will Be Tormented Forever!
Before we delve into issues, let’s consider this one thing.
You see, most people (hope you are not) scared to death when they have to speak in public due to past experiences.
Perhaps you fared badly when you were called to give some speeches and you are thinking, you are going to fail this time too.
Well, I have been writing speeches for a long time, and I always tell those who come to us to have a positive mental attitude.
As you know, your mind is the battlefield of life so anything (good or bad) you put in there can have adverse effects on all your future performance.
In view of that, my advice is to believe you can and also hold a positive mental image of yourself speaking confidently.
Why?
Because if you do, you will be giving a new signal to your human spirit that you are ready to dump any fear that has held you captive for far too long and that’s your first step to achieving speaking success and in every aspect of your life.
Enough said. Let’s go back to the issue on board.
Have You Talked To This All-Powerful Man Yet?
Are you a Christian or do you even believe in God? I hope you do right?
As a Christian speechwriter, I believe in the power of prayer and I believe is the best way to go about getting ideas for your speech. How?
Scripture tells us that God is the source of all knowledge and wisdom, so before write, I first say a prayer.
By asking for divine help, God always fills my mind with rich ideas.
This works for me all the time and it will work for you if you habitually put it into practice not only on this assignment but in all your endeavors.
Remember God is always expecting you to look up to him at all times.
Another thing you have to do is...
To Relax and Watch Videos!
Do you mean a blockbuster? Not at all…So, what do you mean exactly Dan?
By simply going to any of those video sharing platforms or sites and imputing in the search boxes: christening speech by parents, baby baptism speech and the like.
After you have done that, wait for several of those short clips to pop up.
Then watch as many of them(funny and non-funny) and put down words, ideas, and phrases you think you can use for your own baby blessing speech!
By the way,…
Have You Talked To Any ''Comedian'' Yet?
Do you remember anything you or anyone said in jest as you awaited the arrival of your baby?
What was it about? Please put them down if it comes to mind now or later.
Do you also have any funny jokes about babies?
Put down funny ideas that you remember and see which one can best use.
First, I want to thank Amrita Minocha for giving us these quotes:
Quote #1: ‘’Newborn babes can give you an unexpected high blood pressure’’
Quote #2: Parenting is like going back to school; but this time to learn patience!
Quote #3: The best part of parenting is the day you realize that you have become everything that you hated about your parents!
Quote # 4: Parenting is stopping your kid from eating that piece of chocolate that has fallen on the floor and then eating it yourself when he/she is not looking.
Quote #5: Being a mother gives you a choice. You can either sleep sitting down or standing up; never on the bed! Or you can choose not to sleep ever!
Now, let’s see how we can use quote# 1: ''Newborn babes can give you an unexpected high blood pressure'' to come up with something.
Below is an example of a short christening speech by a mom or dad
Here you have it:
''You see, as we awaited the arrival of Dan, our hopes and dreams was to raise him to be a son after God’s own heart.
When he was only 2 weeks old, we realized he was sent to really control our lives and make us more patient as a couple---something that was obviously lacking in our lives.
Well, one morning, our neighbor Sarah came to knock on our doors and asked if she could be of help.
It turned out she heard Michelle wail like a siren throughout the night.
As new parents, we didn’t know what to do and her constant cries shot our blood pressure through the roof so we were very excited to have the help of our….''
Did you notice how we used quote # 1:'' Newborn babes can give you an unexpected high blood pressure '' to come up with that extract?
Another area to look at for ideas is
Stories
Did you notice how I got your attention by relating the story of Hannah from the bible at the onset of this piece?
Good stories are undoubtedly the best way to engage your family and friends. You can use tales but make sure its message is in sync with your mom or dad’s christening or baby baptism speech.
Now, here are some questions to ask yourself if you intend to use stories.
- Is this your first, second, third…child?
- How did you feel when you were expecting your baby?
- What are your dream/dreams for him or her?
- How was the day like when he/she was born?
- Why do you really treasure him or her?
- What were the first few weeks like?
- Are you a new parent? If so, what has the experience been like?
- Do you recount any funny memories before or after your child was born?
- How did her birth deepen your marital bonds?
- Why is he or she a blessing to the family?
- Why did you give him or her that name?
- What do you imagine his or her future to be like?
- How ready are you to raise your child in the fear of God?
- Which relatives and friends have been supportive and what do you want to thank them for?
Now, this is what I want you to do. Go for a pen and a sheet and sit with your spouse and answer all those questions.
After you have done that, ask yourself which answers you want to use for your baby dedication message. Just string your answers together to craft something. Don't worry about its flow as you can always go back to edit it.
Do You Think This Is One Of The Best Christening Or Baptism Speech By A Parent Ever?
Well, I love examples and I want to show you, how you can use any of the questions above to craft something short and sweet.
Now, let’s dive right in?
‘''On beautiful days like this one, you can’t help but be thankful to God and count your blessings for the gift of children because they bring incredible joy to our lives.
Most people get married and the next thing is, they have wonderful children.
That wasn’t our experience. Times were very tough initially--- (i mean financially)--- and I often wondered if we would make any headway.
On top of that, we had no child. But we have always believed that God makes everything beautiful in his own time.
So, we trusted him with our whole time and energy and when we least expected, God made our hearts smile.
Today, he’s made our joy complete after waiting on him for 14 long years!
Sometimes, we begin to wonder why God had us waiting for so long. But, we are comforted by today’s reading which says: ''our ways are not His ways''
If there’s one thing Tim and I have learned along the way, then it’s been that patience makes you complete in everything!
Well, when Mark was born and we brought him home, it felt like God had thrown a bright light from heaven into our souls.
The joy, love, and laughter, together with a sense of purpose and meaning of being a mom made me feel so excited.
I am thrilled beyond words at the sight of this beautiful handiwork of God on this beautiful day.
As we are surrounded by love from family and friends, I hope and pray that Mark will grow up to become a man with godly integrity!''
I hope you saw how we used questions 1-4 above to write that?
I hope that example inspires you to put down your thoughts.
Another area to look at for ideas is...
Bible Readings
Here are a few bible verses that can stimulate your thinking so you get tons of ideas:
Ephesians Chapter 4:4-6
''There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to one hope when you were called; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.''
Jeremiah 29:11
''For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.''
Proverbs 22:6
''Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.''
Psalm 127: 3
''Behold, children are a gift of the Lord,
The fruit of the womb is a reward.''
Ephesians 6: 1
''Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.''
Now, can you use any of the above verses to come up with a short message?
You have 10 minutes to do that. Well, let me take my seat so you can work on this one.
Okay…okay…okay…I can see you sweating with this one too, so let me help you out as I don’t want you to find things so hard.
I would like to use:
Jeremiah 29:11 & Proverbs 22: 6
We can probably continue from where we left from our earlier example
''…I am thrilled beyond words at the sight of this beautiful handiwork of God on this beautiful day.
Even as we are surrounded by love from family and friends, I hope and pray that Mark will grow up to become a man with godly integrity!
I know that God has better plans for Mark more than we can ever imagine and I believe that his baptism is a step in the right direction as we have handed him over to the Lord fully to be the master of his life…
As parents, we’re confident that God will help Mark every step of the way.
It’s our hope and prayer that he imbues us with strength and wisdom to raise him so he can be a living channel of blessing to humanity.
Did you realize how we used our verses: I know that God has better plans for Mark more than we can ever imagine: to write the underlined words? That’s exactly what’s expected of you when you want to give a heartfelt christening or baptism speech for your child.''
Let me add here that instead of readings, you may also go for poems or even a combination. Just read through some poetry about love, birth, and joy… and jot down ideas you can use for your own delivery.
You Can Also Look For Songs About Christening
If you can render your words in a song, that will be fantastic. By the way, here are a few baby dedication songs you can use.
As you listen to it, put down ideas and words which inspire you and you think can help in your delivery.
Here are songs you can use--''With all I am by Hillsong''
Below are the lyrics
Into your hands
I commit again With all I am, for you, lord
You hold my world
In the palm of your hand
And I am yours forever
Jesus, I believe in you
Jesus, I belong to you
You're the reason that I live
The reason that I sing
With all I am
I'll walk with you
Wherever you go
Through tears and joy
I'll trust in you
And I will live
In all of your ways
And your promises, forever
Jesus, I believe in you
Jesus, I belong to you
You're the reason that I live
The reason that I sing
Jesus, I believe in you
Jesus, I belong to you
You're the reason that I live
The reason that I sing
With all I am
With all I am
All I am
I will worship
I will worship you
I will worship
I will worship you
Jesus, I believe in you
Jesus, I belong to you
You're the reason that I live
The reason that I sing
Jesus, I believe in you
Jesus, I belong to you
You're the reason that I live
The reason that I sing
Jesus, I believe in you
Jesus, I belong to you
You're the reason that I live
The reason that I sing
With all I am
I will worship
I will worship you
I will worship
I will worship you

This Might Be All That You Are Looking For! But Most People Seem To Ignore It!
Finally, I wonder why many people don’t go for sample christening speeches by parents.
Well, I think it’s because of sheer ignorance and I think that’s something you shouldn’t ignore if you want to effortlessly write a great naming ceremony speech.
Let’s see this example by Josh Daffern below before I give my views about it.
''Elle,
Your mother and I have waited twelve years for this moment. We thank God for you, especially that you’re a girl because to be honest, if you were a boy, we wouldn’t be done yet. But praise God you are a beautiful girl!
You are the cherry on our sundae, the ketchup on our French Fries, the sugar in our tea, the castle in…
We have already prophetically declared that you are going to be our easy child, which compared to your brothers is setting the bar pretty low.
Zeke will inspire you with his energy, Shepherd will comfort you with his kind words, and Lincoln will do his best to use you as…
You are guaranteed lots of laughs, lots of tears, and probably a few good years worth of therapy. If nothing else you will be tough, ready for what the world will throw at you.
Your name is Emmanuelle, which means “God with us.” Your very presence on the earth is a …
As a girl, I know that your primary sense of self-worth will come from me as your father. It’s my job to pour worth into you, to tell you that you’re beautiful, you’re a princess, and if any boy tries to mess with you I’ll break his kneecaps. I promise to love you and set the bar so high that...
Your mom and I will do more than just promise to love you.
We promise to love each other, to fight for our marriage every step of the way so that growing up you have a beautiful picture of how much God loves us and how much we’re supposed to love each other.
Elle, you have no idea of the wild ride you signed up for when God gave you to our family. We couldn’t be happier. Now please let us sleep through the night. Amen.''
Well, if you go for such a beautiful christening speech example, then there is no way you are going to spend countless hours putting your scattered thoughts together.
So, scroll up the page once again and read the sample once more.
If you do, you will notice the presentation is in this chronological order!
- How long they have waited
- What their daughter means to them
- What her name represents
- What their hopes and dreams are
- Their promises to God and their daughter
Don’t you think by looking over that example once more, you can also write a short but engaging speech?
I believe you can because I have given you enough ''writing ammunition'' than you possibly can imagine!
Please know that a well-crafted delivery won’t mean anything to the little child, but it’s a way of telling everyone and most importantly God how much the gift he’s blessed you with means to you.
