Confirmation Speech or Letter From Mom or Dad (Parents) to Son or Daughter

Do you also think this is a perfect confirmation letter or speech every mom or dad should give to their son or daughter?

Have You Given Your Child The Best Gift Ever!

I know you love your son or daughter!

You have invested so much money and resources in your children’s education and you’re also doing everything you can to make sure they live a more meaningful and fulfilling lives!

But, do you know that the greatest legacy you can ever give your children is sound character and faith?

Back when I was a teenager, my mom always told us never to leave home without first saying a prayer and this practice has stayed with till now.

The scripture tells us in Proverbs 22:6 that we should train up our kids in the way they should and when they grow older they will not depart from it.

Again, scripture tells us that if anyone doesn’t provide for his family, he has denied his faith and is worse than a nonbeliever (1 Timothy 5:8)

As a godly dad or mom, one thing is require of you most and that has to do with how you instruct and train your kids in the ways of the Lord.

Charity they say begins at home and so if your child is taking part in the sacrament of confirmation, you have to do your very best to ensure that they really understand this religious rite is all about.

As your son or daughter goes through his or her confirmation, you might be asked to put together a letter or speech to help build him up in the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ and also guide him every step of the way.

Granted, I know for sure that writing a beautiful letter or speech can be a tough nut to crack and that’s why I am here this evening to help you craft a godly-inspired piece with great ease.

As we do that, I will try as much as possible to give clear examples to support points and ideas raised to make things fairly easy.

The first thing you have to do is...

To Have A Tête-à-Tête With God

I have been writing speeches for clients all over the world and there’s never a day I don’t say a prayer before I write. Small wonder, I always come up with great and unique ideas.

You also have to do same as God is the source of all knowledge and understanding. It doesn’t matter if you screwed up sometime past giving a speech. All you have to do at this moment is to believe as you can do all things through Christ who gives you strength.

Bear in mind that as a man thinks so he is (Proverbs 23:7) so just believe you can and the Holy Spirit will nourish your mind with fine ideas and insights.

The second thing you have to do is…

To Get In Tune With The Melodies Of Heaven

I know you might be wondering HOW you are going to get in tune with heavenly melodies.

By listening to heavenly-inspired tunes like Here I am Lord, you can be inspired to come up with something beyond the ordinary.

Well, here are the lyrics of the song: Here I am Lord and then an example of a short and sweet letter or speech based on the lyrics.

You may hit the play button first to get a feel of the rhythm.

Now, the lyrics of the beautiful song you just listened to. Please look it over once again:

I, the Lord of sea and sky,
I have heard my people cry.

All who dwell in dark and sin,
My hand will save.
I who made the stars of night,
I will make their darkness bright.
Who will bear my light to them?
Whom shall I send?

Here I am Lord, Is it I Lord?
I have heard you calling in the night.
I will go Lord, if you lead me.
I will hold your people in my heart.

I, the Lord of snow and rain,
I have born my peoples pain.
I have wept for love of them, they turn away.

I will break their hearts of stone,
Give them hearts for love alone.
I will speak my word to them,

Whom shall I send?

Here I am Lord, Is it I Lord?
I have heard you calling in the night.
I will go Lord, if you lead me.
I will hold your people in my heart.

I, the Lord of wind and flame,
I will tend the poor and lame.
I will set a feast for them,

My hand will save
Finest bread I will provide,
Till their hearts be satisfied.
I will give My life to them,
Whom shall I send?

Here I am Lord, Is it I Lord?
I have heard you calling in the night.
I will go Lord, if you lead me.
I will hold your people in my heart.

Now, let us see how we can use some of the lyrics to write a short confirmation letter to your son or daughter

My dear son/daughter,

Even before you came into our life, we loved you but God loved you more and our dream was to see you grow to love God beyond all else.

We knew that, if you learned to do this, you will grow up becoming an ambassador of Christ right here on earth.

I remember when we both had our confirmations here in this church, we felt the presence of the Holy Spirit so strong and it was though God telling us that from today…you are to tell the world about the saving power of Jesus.

You know the Lord bore the pain of people on the cross and he’s looking for persons who will spread the word so he will break the hearts of stone of all non-believers and give them a heart to love alone

Are you ready to embark on that beautiful calling? The Lord is counting on you because you have received the gift of the Holy Spirit….

Do you realize how we used the following words?

-I have born my peoples pain.

-I will break their hearts of stone,

-Give them hearts for love alone…

To write this: You know the Lord bore the pain of people on the cross and he’s looking for persons who will spread the word so he will break the hearts of stone of all non-believers and give them a heart to love alone.

You better go up and read the entire points to get a clear understanding of how I did just that.

Other songs you can use include

  1. Make me a channel of your peace
  1. Amazing Grace How Sweet The Sound
  1. How Sweet The Name Of Jesus Sounds
  1. When Peace Like A River
  1. A Charge to Keep I Have

There are other wonderful tunes you can use, so just go for your Catholic, Presbyterian, Methodist, Lutheran hymnbooks and look for some others.

The third thing you have to do is…

To Consult Poetry

Got any poem in mind? Let me help you out here. Poems on the theme of church confirmation, holiness, trusting in the Lord, poems about blessings, and so on can help you out.

Just look up an example in the search engines and feel free to borrow a few lines to write your piece just as I showed you in the above example.

The fourth thing you have to do is…

Go See This Best-Selling Book Ever

As you know, The Bible is the perfect place to get inspired ideas and themes for writing a confirmation letter or speech for your child.

I guess you read it daily. If so, do you walk in the light of God’s word? And are you experiencing the blessings and mercies of God as a result of being obedient to our heavenly father?

If you don’t read the bible that much, you better start as contains clear instructions for a victorious living over the power of sin and life’s challenges.

That said; let us look at some bible verses you can use to help you say what’s on your heart.

-Proverbs 22:6 - Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

-Ephesians 6:1 - Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right.

-Psalms 127:3 - Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.

-Deutronomy 6: 1-3

  1. Now these are the commandments, the statutes, and the judgements, which the Lord your God commanded to teach you, that ye might do them in the land whither ye go to possess it:
  2.  That though mightest fear the Lord thy God, to keep all his statutes and his commandments, which i commanded thee, thou, and thy son, and thy son's son, all the days of thy life; and that thy days may be prolonged

Isaiah 66:13

-As a mother comforts her child, so I will comfort you...

Now, Here’s Our Short Example Based On The Bible Verse:

Psalms 127:3 - Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.

Let’s dive right in:

We have always believed that children are a heritage of the Lord just as scripture rightly states.

And so, when you came into our lives, we just didn’t see you as our son or daughter, we saw you as one of God’s best gift to us to love, support and mold you into a man/woman after his own heart.

Doing that required that we raise you so well and equip you with everything you will ever need so you don’t stray from the paths that’s true and secured.

Now, you’re all grown up and we are filled with so much joy that you have kept the faith and you are right here before your maker making a solemn promise to serve him all the days of your life…

The fifth thing you can do is

Just Answer These Eight(8) Questions And Your Ideas Will Flow In No Time!

Sit down a moment with a note pad and paper handy and ask yourself these questions.

  1. What happened prior to the day?
  1. How was my confirmation day like?
  1. Do I still have any or all of those letters I got from my sponsor or mentor, parents (mom and dad), grandparents, friends, and well-wishers?
  2. What were the stumbling blocks every step of the way?
  3. If so, how did I overcome all those trials?
  4. How did my participation in that sacrament guide your whole life from that moment on?
  1. Can you share some ups and down moments in your walk of faith?
  2. If so, what did you do back when you felt as though ''God was on vacation?''

Next, put down your answers and back them up with stories in well-developed paragraphs. Now, this is what you have to do afterwards.

Go over your work paragraph by paragraph and see contents you feel you don’t want to include and get rid of them and leave others intact.

Keep on doing that till you are completely happy with how your ideas follow in a clear and consistent manner.

By telling your journey in the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ using personal anecdotes, it will give your son or daughter a sense of hope and purpose when he or she goes through life and also make them believe that Jesus will be there for him or her no matter how hard the storms of life blows.

Do You Think This Is The Best Sample You’re Looking For?

Let’s see how Susan Baxter of  did that in The National Catholic Register some time ago.

Don’t worry if you’re not a catholic, you can still make the best out of it since all believe in one true God and Jesus Christ, our savior.

Here are excerpts

I have prayed, throughout your life, even before you were conceived, that you would grow to love God beyond all else. I knew that, if you learned to do this, all I hope for you would follow.

Now that you are a young woman in the last days before the Easter Sunday on which you will be anointed by a bishop of the Church,

I want to tell you what it means to me to be a member of the Body of Christ. It is my heartfelt hope that my experience of growing in love for God will help you with yours.

Before there was confirmation, before Communion, before kindergarten and siblings and my high chair and crib, there was, in my life, a presence.

It loved me, held me, rocked me, and permeated the air around me.

It was there all the time, telling me: I made you. I delight in you. I see you always. You are my little love. I will never leave you.

I am blessed — your grandma says cursed — with a crisp memory. I remember riding my tricycle on hard-wood floors while my mother knitted on snowy days.

I remember my first encounter with my closest sister, your aunt, who's three years younger. I remember…

But, my dear daughter, someone else was near as well. In church, I learned his name. I saw that other people knew about him, too, and that made them family.

And, as we learned the Catechism, I realized the only people who could really understand this conversation I was having with God …

When the sisters taught us to sing… I felt I had a first-hand understanding of the words. This unseen other was my best friend.

Without him, life would have been unbearable.

For my confirmation instruction, I, like you, had lay teachers. …

We practiced answering the questions of the mysterious man we'd meet that night, the bishop.

We practiced being anointed. We practiced being slapped in the face and told, “Peace be with you.” (Our accepting the slap, we were told, was a sign of our openness to persecution and even martyrdom on behalf of Jesus.)

And we practiced singing, “Come Holy Ghost, Creator blest, and in our hearts take up thy rest …”

Years later, when your grandfather died, I sat in a chapel wondering if the gash in my heart would ever heal. I was so sad I couldn't pray. I sat, for an hour every day, for many months, before the Blessed Sacrament.

I mean, I just sat there. I didn't ask anything. I didn't do anything.

Finally, one day, a mini-miracle: I felt my way through the grief.

And on the other side of my self-pity over…

Dear daughter, you who have taken Elizabeth Ann Seton as your model, you who have chosen as your sponsor my sister (who has long since forgiven me for bonking her head with a bottle): I want you to know I am praying for you. I pray that your confirmation will mark a time in your life when heaven opened for you, and God declared to all the world:

“This is my beloved child, upon whom I delight. Nothing she ever does will make me love her any less than I do at this moment, which is higher and deeper and wider than she will ever understand.

And there is nothing she can do to make me love her more. To receive this love, she need not ask. All she ever need do is pull up the covers, be still and wait — and know that I am God.”

I guess, you can pick some of the words of this short example and then use it to write something memorable right? Just follow what I did for the others.

The sixth thing you can do is

To Obtain Wisdom from Some Of These Wise People

Quotes from the lips or minds of wise men and women can form the backbone of your speech and below are a few examples you can use to enrich your message.

  1. “In him you also, when you had heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and had believed in him, were marked with the seal of the promised Holy Spirit.”— St. Paul
  1. “Remember, then, that you received a spiritual seal, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of knowledge and reverence, the spirit of holy fear.Keep safe what you received. God the Father sealed you, Christ the Lord strengthened you and sent the Spirit into your hearts as the pledge of what is to come.”— St. Ambrose
  1. “I wish not merely to be called Christian, but also to be Christian.”— St. Ignatius of Antioch
  1. “It is better to be a child of God than king of the whole world.”— St. Aloysius Gonzaga
  1. “But it is God who establishes us with you in Christ and has anointed us, by putting his seal on us and giving us his Spirit in our hearts as a first installment.” — St. Paul

I have tried as much as possible to show you how to use such comments to write your own ideas and I guess you wouldn’t have any problem doing that with the above quotations.

Finally, the best and easiest thing you might want to do is to…

Consult Free Confirmation Speech Samples For Your Son Or Daughter.

You know, most people spend countless hours trying to come up with what they have to say.

But that shouldn’t happen if you get some really good confirmation speech examples.

But the downside is that most of those examples are in other people’s voice so just have to make sure you change a few things here and there to make it yours.

They come in handy when you are really struggling with how to begin or you just can’t find the right words for your letter.

Below is a very short example. Just look it over and see this if you can make something out of it.

The sacrament of confirmation completes the sacrament of baptism.

If baptism is the sacrament of re-birth to a new and supernatural life, confirmation is the sacrament of maturity and coming of age….

The poor-spirited man is only able, when he has been confirmed and lives by God’s grace.

This confirmation in the power of the Holy Spirit that has led you to the profession of your faith today…

May God guide you to where there is sun and warmth, but make sure you remember rain and cold, so you appreciate all that is good in life…

May he help you be an adult who is strong and proud, but help you keep the child within who tells jokes, plays video games, listens to music and has fun with his family and friends.

May God watch over you when you make mistakes, and help you to understand that perfection is not your goal, only who you love and relate to along your journey. Now that you are too old

Now, it’s your turn to personalize what John wrote to his son, Joshua.

I am sure you can because I have given you everything you need to come with a touching message.

By the way, here are some take home points from the John’s letter to his wonderful boy…

  1. Notice how the writer connected his son’s baptism to his confirmation?
  1. Then, he reiterates the essence of the confirmation
  1. To end it all, he says a prayer for his son and that’s something you should do too…probably prayer and well wishes will be an idea way to end your notes.
