Sample Wedding Anniversary Speech Samples or Examples For Your Sister

Did You Remember This?

Last time, we looked at how and where to get ideas to help you write a beautiful wedding anniversary speech for your sister.
One of the tools we kept referring to was speech samples.

I remember writing that those examples were important if you really want to come up with something unique because you are able to write a beautiful speech by changing a few words here and there.

In that piece, I showed you a very short sample and how you can use it to write something great.
However, I didn’t go in details about that piece was written.

Today, I want to do you a quick favor by bringing on a board another wedding or marriage anniversary speech sample you can simply look at and make a few changes so it becomes yours.

Not only that, we will take each portion of the speech and try to get into the writers mind and see why she decided to use certain words and phrases as we march along.

So, please take your pen and paper and come along with me. Ready? Let us get started right away.
Oh sorry, I forgot one thing. I guess it is not too late to bring it up anyway.

Choose A Style That Fits Your Personality

Before you put your ideas and thoughts together into a beautiful speech, you have to first decide on the style to go for.

There are various styles to choose from anyway. You can decide to make your speech very funny. Very poetic. You can make it a simple narrative or being sentimental or even spiritual. It is also possible to combine two or more styles.

I usually see most speakers merging the funny and sentimental styles. Those who have a good voice sometimes decide to write a very short piece and just sing it.

Whatever style you go for, should something that reflect your own personality and voice.
For example, if you are a naturally funny person, then, you can decide to make your piece hilarious.

By the way, you have to decide as I cannot ask you to go for my style, which is usually a mixture of hilarity and sentimentality.

Is This The Greatest Ever?

With that in mind, let us see the start of our example

''Has it ever occurred to you that celebrating a wedding anniversary is like flicking through a photo album? It is a day for remembering old friends and shared occasions.

Tonight one of the photos in that album of memories is a wedding photo. Tonight we are celebrating that wedding of Mary and John and their years together since that special day.

So we are celebrating commitment, love and loyalty. We are celebrating the marriage of a couple who believed in being true to their wedding vows.

We are celebrating how two totally different people became a unit while still retaining their individuality. We are definitely celebrating the attraction of opposites.''

You may not agree with me, but this narrative is by far one the brilliant pieces I have ever seen anywhere.
It is one that piece that is very creative and as a speech writer myself, there are many things am learning from it even as I write.

Do you know why I said so? You see, most people would have simply used the words: '' I remember….''
But not this writer. Did you notice how he started it all?

''Has it ever occurred to you that celebrating a wedding anniversary is like flicking through a photo album? It is a day for remembering old friends and shared occasions.

Tonight one of the photos in that album of memories is a wedding photo. Tonight we are celebrating that wedding of Mary and John and their years together since that special day.''

Have you ever been to a wedding where the speaker has made this similar approach? You realize that she asks a question.

Please see it again here: ''Has it ever occurred to you that celebrating a wedding anniversary is like flicking through a photo album?''
Asking the wedding guests a question is undoubtedly one way of getting their attention and making them bond with you and I really salute her for her brilliance and courage.

Use This And They Will Love You Forever

Though a masterpiece, I wanted her to begin her speech by doing a short self-introduction and its components include telling everyone your name, your relationship to the addresses, and proceed to thank them for coming to support your sister and your brother-in-law.
Having done that, you can use the following ideas to give an attention-grabbing opener.

You can start with a joke.

You can also start with a quote on love.

You can also start with a quote about friendship or simply look up the search term: sister quotes

You can also use a personal narrative and use it to support your story line.

You can also use imaginary stories, but you have got to tie the message to your content anyway, so it makes sense.

Okay, I want to make things easier, so let me use a quote on sisters to craft a simple sister wedding anniversary speech for your sister.
By the way, the following are quotes about sisters you can use.

''I have a wonderful shelter, which is my family. I have a wonderful relationship with my brother and sister; this makes me feel that I know always where I belong.''--- Jose Carreras

''For there is no friend like a sister in calm or stormy weather; To cheer one on the tedious way, to fetch one if one goes astray, to lift one if one totters down, to strengthen whilst one stands.''--- Christina Rossetti

''As I grew up, one of my strongest allies has been my sister.''--- Patti Smith

''If you have a brother or sister, tell them you love them every day - that's the most beautiful thing. I told my sister how much I loved her every day. That's the only reason I'm OK right now.'' --- Amaury Nolasco

''I always like to win. But I'm the big sister. I want to make sure she has everything, even if I don't have anything. It's hard. I love her too much. That's what counts.''--- Venus Williams

Now let us use Christina Rossetti’s quote and Patti Smith’s quote to get something short written.

''As I grew up, one of my strongest allies has been my sister.''--- Patti Smith

And

''For there is no friend like a sister in calm or stormy weather; To cheer one on the tedious way, to fetch one if one goes astray, to lift one if one totters down, to strengthen whilst one stands.''--- Christina Rossetti

A Very Short Example Just For You

''Growing up, Mary was my trusted confident and strongest ally. There has been no like her in both calm and stormy weather. She cheered me up when I lost my own husband and she’s been like my moral compass. She taught me to be selfless and love people because she believed we are all brothers and sisters from different parents. She believed that God was our parent and his rich blow flows through each one of us.
I know Mike is so blessed to have married such a wonderful person.''

Do you see how we used the lines: ''strongest ally'' and ''calm or stormy weather'' to connect what was on my mind?

Now, let us continue with our speech sample.

''Mary and John, you see, are two separate people with different ideas. They share the same values, of course, but they each have their own outlook and characteristics.

Mary, like many wives, wonders why John cannot simply ask somebody for directions when he is lost instead of driving around in circles.
John, like most husbands cannot understand why his wife takes such a long time to buy a dress.
So over the years they have learned to be tolerant of each other.

Mary has got used to taking the scenic route and John brings a good book with him when Mary goes shopping. Alternatively he bribes a female friend to go with her.''

Do You Know Your Speech Has Wings?

After you have got down to the body, you have to address your sister and brother-in-law separately as you see right here.
You can also address them both.

In case, you decide to do that, you have to tell a story and that tale should be centered on their lives.
Here, you talk about how their relationship has evolved. Probably, you can talk about how the trials and tribulations they have gone through, and how they overcame those crises.

I always advise people to do that because you have to use your speech as therapeutic or healing tool.
There are some couple who will be at the wedding anniversary and may be going through tough times like your sister and brother did,
and if you do share their story, you are going to inspire hurting couples to still hold on a little longer till they experienced miracles in their marriage.

Enough said. Let us go on to see the writer’s next lines.

'' Marriage, you see, is about tolerance. It's about a shared sense of humor.
In a hard world it needs to have a network of family and friends to support it.

Today, I know Mary and John are delighted too that you are here with them to share this special occasion. We, on the other hand, are delighted to be here to wish them well on their anniversary.
Their marriage has had its trials and tribulations of course. It has also had its golden moments.

There have been births and birthdays. There have been triumphs and disasters but over all the years John and Mary clung together and survived it all.

I have no doubt but that they have cried and wiped each others' tears. I know for a fact that they have laughed long and often and that, I think, is the secret of their happy marriage.''

Oh my God, I love this piece. It seems like we sat down to write his speech together as we are thinking alike.
These lines:

Their marriage has had its trials and tribulations of course. It has also had its golden moments.
There have been births and birthdays. There have been triumphs and disasters but over all the years John and Mary clung together and survived it all.

I have no doubt but that they have cried and wiped each others' tears
Captured what I told you about: the importance of making your speech very inspirational.

Wrap It Up With These Ideas

Finally, you begin to conclude by telling your friends and family why they are a special couple as you can see below

''Mary and John are very special people. They always have time for others. They are generous to a fault and they have an open door policy when it comes to family and friends.

In fact they are wonderful parents, marvelous family members and the best friends anyone could have.
So tonight we are gathered to thank them for what they have meant to us over the years. Tonight we want to wish them many more years of happiness together. ''

Don’t forget to wish them well in the coming years and tell them how you desire that their marriage will be an excellent model.
You can use the medium of prayer, reciting a poem or chanting a psalm or simply expressing your wishes by writing a poem and using it as your toast as you see here

'' In fact ladies and gentlemen (or family and friends) I think you will all agree that a toast is in order. So please raise your glasses in a toast to a couple whose marriage was definitely the prototype for marriages made in Heaven. Mary and John!

We've gathered today to tell you
Just how much you mean to us
That's why we've sent you those greetings
And that's why we are making a fuss
It's great to see two people

As happy as you two are
In a sad world we're lucky that

Your marriage is our guiding star.
So now I say to you well done

You've shown wedlock can be fun
Demonstrated what a marriage should be
And I know the guests agree with me

That as a couple you deserve more than most ‘’
Our best wishes and a happy anniversary toast.

That, in essence, is how to make use of wedding anniversary speech samples to writing an awesome speech for your sister.
And I think you can write one without trying so hard right?
